Conversational Lithuanian, Tuesday evening

Hannibal nodded at the class and watched them as they took their seats. Older people were less malleable than students, but might have more experience; you never knew where you might find a good recruit.

Hannibal's clothes were more casual, his shirt unbuttoned; he had earrings in both ears and a few flashy rings on. He was more loudly confident and less refined, and he smelled a bit like smoke. His accent was heavier than it had been last week.

“So — good vocabulary this time!” he announced with a smirk, writing it on the board.

"So, talk!"

Jonothon had been at this 'sensing his surroundings without a head' thing for enough years now that he really didn't have all that much trouble picking out the words on the board. And really, these particular words only made sense.

Or, well, most of them did. He had a moment, while he was committing this new vocabulary to memory, where he sort of lingered on 'dangerous,' took Hannibal's new attitude and outward appearance into consideration, and then... shrugged it off.

He wasn't being outright antagonistic. Hannibal could have any manner of unsavoury habits and Jono wouldn't get too concerned. Besides, he had a lingering sort of feeling that this wasn't the first time Hannibal had been not-quite-himself lately, though he couldn't entirely put a finger on why. Most of the other week was a bit of a haze for some reason.

Jono couldn't see the girl who had taken the seat next to his, or the worried glances that she kept sending his way. But maybe he could sense those, too.

"Professor Jono?" she asked, in a low voice, once the lecture had finished. "Might I ... speak with you?"

Of course he could sense that she was there and giving him worried looks. It wasn't as though he was new to being aware of his surroundings without half of his senses, after all.

//Of course, Eleanor. Is something the matter?//

"Not with me," she said. "Although it might be. Everything's going a little sideways, of late. People aren't how I remember them."

Little sisters could sort through the memories without being overwhelmed, but no little sister had been exposed to as much ADAM as she had. Maybe the memories were starting to leak somehow?

"But that's not ... why I wanted to talk to you," she continued, carefully. "It's not me, that is. It's you."

//You want to speak to me because... of me.//

Well, that was an interesting turn of events. Jonothon crossed his arms over his chest, his mask tilting a little, as if he was actually tilting his head at her curiously.

//And why, pray, would that be, luv? I haven't done something to offend, have I?//

"How're you doing, Jonothon?" Kenzi had been relieved Jonothon seemed okay during rehearsal on Saturday, but she wasn't counting on that still being the case without checking.

//Never better,// he replied, though his tone was a little dry. //Ever have one of those weeks when you're not entirely certain if you've lost your bloody mind, or everyone else has?//

He was having one of those. Oh yes.

"Ohhhh yup." Kenzi sighed, rubbing her face. "Sooo much confusion. You, Cecil, Bo... about the only person everything is the same with is Sparks."

//I was afraid you would include me in that list,// Jono admitted, grudgingly. //People keep asking me if I'm in pain. I haven't been asked that question so often in years.//

About a decade, in fact. It had been a little bit of time since they'd gone and knocked his head clean off.

And a long story.

Okay. So the teacher was back to being a guy. Only . . . creepier. Yes, definitely creepier.

Sheba told herself it was the whole oeuvre, not just the thicker accent that read "cement shoes" to her. Though she had to admit, growing up in a fairly xenophobic culture meant the accent was not helping.

Neither was the bottom of that vocab list. That bit wasn't helping at all.

"Definitely not just you," Sheba assured her. "I feel like I'm watching a crime movie."

"And not the kind of crime movie that innocent bystanders survive," Kenzi muttered. "One of those ones with subtitles that in awards for how realistic they are win portraying violence." She gave Dr. Lecter a fake smile. "So. We're glad he didn't bring food then."

Some of the signifiers had changed since the time Jack was born in, but he still knew how to tell when someone was Up to No Good. Sometimes that wasn't even a bad thing: The underworld, after all, had its uses.

This wasn't one of those times.

He was unusually quiet during the class, wary of this new version of Dr. Lecter. He didn't seem like someone whose attention he wanted to court.

Kenzi suspected that the other her she'd heard about would have found all this fascinating. She had no idea how Other Kenzi would take the professor being... more ... something, though.

So, she was carefully repeating the new words, and adding in all the ones she'd learned over the last few weeks (since she hadn't missed any classes due to Vegas).
