Hannibal nodded at the class and watched them as they took their seats. Older people were less malleable than students, but might have more experience; you never knew where you might find a good recruit.

Hannibal's clothes were more casual, his shirt unbuttoned; he had earrings in both ears and a few flashy rings on. He was more loudly confident and less refined, and he smelled a bit like smoke. His accent was heavier than it had been last week.

“So — good vocabulary this time!” he announced with a smirk, writing it on the board.

"Female. Wait, the person here is a guy? Hunh." She considered that and then asked, "And die? Really?.... Has the me here ever 'ganked' anything from you?"

"Finally!" Sheba crowed. "And I don't know. Define 'ganked'."

"Stolen. She's an aspiring jewel thief, or something." Kenzi shook her head. "Which I just can not picture at all."

"She mostly just makes a mess in my kitchen," Sheba said. "Pretty sure 'ganking' ingredients for an on-the-clock spicy milkshake isn't quite jewel thievery."

"Oh! That reminds me." Kenzi bit her lip. "I sort of am treating Sparks and his little friend Amelia to lunch tomorrow. What's good for a kid who was eating out of a warehouse for a while?"

"Soup," Sheba said. "Wait, what kind of warehouse?"

"One of the ones by the docks. Sparks coaxed her into going back to the dorm with him," Kenzi admitted. "Okay, soup, maybe chili? She did okay with Jell-O on Monday."

Sheba shook her head. "Too much spice won't be good on a stomach not used to a lot of food. You want simple flavors, not a lot of grease. Chicken soup, easy on the chicken and vegetables. How'd she end up living in a warehouse? In this town?"

You could get along in this town working one day a week. Come on.

"She's only about six. Sparks said her parents disappeared on her, and she was just... here. On the island." Kenzi grimaced. "I'm giving her a couple of my old tutus tomorrow. Sparks shouldn't be the only one taking care of her, you know?"

"Oh geez, yeah." Sheba shook her head. "Definitely soup. I bet we can find little pasta stars to put in it, too."
