The Park | Sunday Morning
It got boring staying inside your room for too long. Sure, Jim was a pro at entertaining himself but he also got bored easily and got curious even easier. There was crap going on around the island and he'd been hearing a rhyming voice for awhile now and staying inside his room just wasn't an attractive option even if it was cold out there.
That was okay, he could deal with cold. It just meant bundling up in various layers before heading out. He wasn't usually up this early and was kind of surprised how quiet it seemed right now. He could almost believe this was another sleepy town in the middle of bumfuck Iowa where nothing happened. He knew the truth but while he took a walk through the park, he could almost believe this place was normal and boring.
It was probably a good thing it wasn't. He'd probably get bored of that after awhile and take off. Boring and normal were just not good matches for Jim Kirk.
[Open place and post. Possible SP later in the afternoon when I head to dinner with my mom! ETA: And SP is about to commence! I will return all tags ASAP!]

"Maybe you're the type that likes video games?" Jim replied, letting that serve as his answer.
no subject
"Maybe I'm not."

Cheek stinging, he rubbed it lightly with his hand and worked his jaw back and forth a few times to ease the stinging.
"My mistake," he said, not sounding very apologetic. "Knitting, maybe?"

Why did he keep making her do this, it wasn't like she took any pleasure in it... well, actually she did, but she much preferred a man once he knew his place.

This time, Jim was a little more prepared and actually ducked underneath the strike. And now he was going to try a little offense of his own. Nothing flashy but maybe a nice, hard kick to the shin would make her a happier person.

"Jim, Jim, Jim. what am I going to do with you?"

Jim cursed silently under his breath and shook his head. "Celebrate my boldness with a beer and a burger?"

"I once knew a girl with an even smarter mouth than yours," Denna said, not letting Jim's bravado get to her at all. At all. "I taught her the error of her ways soon enough."
Funnily enough, Cara remembered that incident very differently.

Well, the kick hadn't worked so now he was just going to be a jackass until he could think of something else here.

That was a no brainer.

That was not an admission of defeat. Nor of any skill on Cara's part.

Way to go with convincing him of your total non-jealousy there.
no subject
"Yeah, you're not jealous at all," he said sarcastically.
no subject
Because that was a compelling argument.

"If you're trying to change my mind about being jealous, this isn't helping," Jim told her, shaking his head ever so slightly. "Sorry."
no subject
Think about your reply very carefully, Jim.

"...the fact that she's better than you?" he tried, shrugging one of his shoulders. "That she doesn't have to overcompensate and you do? Maybe she's prettier?"
She was even if Jim didn't know the person in question was Cara.
no subject
"You've never even met her, but you think she's prettier?" Denna asked, because she was unaware just how small a multiverse it was.

Or she could just aim a punch to his belly while his attention was on avoiding the agiel, that worked too.
