The Park: Sunday Afternoon

Zoe had told Jamie that he could put together a message to the school board in order to prevent the future Faandom from becoming a dystopia.

Zoe was probably going to regret that decision.

For now it meant that Jamie and his duplicates had set up a makeshift stage and procured a video camera for the occasion.

As he waited for his fellow campfire members to show up, Jamie settled down to drink his soy latte. He wasn't sure why he was drinking a soy latte but for some reason it seemed appropriate.

[For the campfire members and anyone else who wants to witness a potential train wreck.]

"Pfft. You wouldn't be able to tell which one is a dupe or which one is really me to begin with," Jamie said rolling his eyes.

Until a duplicate walked by wearing a ball gown and started acting like Blache DuBois out of Streetcar Named Desire. He started to bat his eyelashes at Warren. "Young, young man. Did anyone ever tell you you look like a young prince out of the 'Arabian Nights'?"

Jamie sighed and quickly absorbed the dupe. "So. Tell me more about the sewer!"

Notice the attempt to change the topic.

Yeah, Warren was pretty sure he could figure out the difference. It would be tough, but...

"It was a sewer. I got a message from a girl I was close to back in high school, and she had a theory. Something about a bunch of kids who thought the island was a television show or something and they found rings that gave them the power to change people while they were wandering through the sewer."

Because of course the first thing to do when encountering the set of your favorite television show was investigate where all the famous poop went. Warren didn't pretend to understand the logic any more than he understood Jamie.

"Guess they sent the kids away, but Momoko thought maybe some gremlins had stumbled across the rings or something."

"Televison show and sewers?" Jamie said with a eyeroll. "Did they think this was Wendy the Werewolf Hunter?"

"Listening to the radio this week, it might as well be," Warren noted. "I'm pretty sure half the people here howl at the moon in their spare time."

"Better than sparkly vampires," Jamie muttered as he jammed his hands in his pockets. "I can tolerate the howling but no sparkly bloodsuckers please."

Then Jamie sighed as he pulled out another sock puppet from his pocket. "I'm so getting of these things showing up."

Warren eyed the sock puppet speculatively.

"You're not planning on addressing the school board using one of those things, are you?"

"Don't be ridiculous!" Jamie protested. "I have a lot riding on this as well!"

This might sound good but three dupes wearing ball gowns decided to spin like ballerinas right by Jamie and Warren just as Jamie finished his statement.

"I can tell."

Warren couldn't be any more deadpan if he tried. He really couldn't.

"I suppose if nothing else, we'll make an impression on them."

"I should probably warn you I also juggle."

"... We might as well just set up your dupes as a performing troupe to honor and commemorate Underwood's success in his campaign for the presidency."

See how much faith Warren had in you, Jamie? See?

"Oh, come on. I'll pull this together!" Jamie protested. "I got the stage, the video camera and costumes. Besides we all know what's on the line."

"Yeah," Warren allowed. "Yeah, we do."

He'd been to enough faculty meetings at the school to know exactly what was up. He'd resisted the urge to light everyone in those meetings on fire on more than one occasion.

"Dibs on the Phantom costume."

... What? He wanted pants.
