The Community Center park, Friday evening

Hannibal had had tarps laid down and the pavilion put up before the rain started, and the company assured him they would also have adequate heaters in the event it turned too chilly. When it got closer to time, they set up the tables and place-settings according to his students' instructions.

Said students were mostly spending time between the kitchens and the tables, seeing everything through. Hannibal was keeping an eye on things and helping as needed, but so far they'd done quite a good job, he was pleased to see. Mr. Wayne seemed happy as he shook hands and smiled at people as they arrived.

There was unobtrusive classical music playing, the whole place was decorated tastefully floral, and the flowers on the tables were edible. Welcome to the Spring charity banquet!

Eliot had seen the posters around town, and figured it was worth checking out, if for no other reason than to see what kind of things a school that thought "classic video games" was a great theme for a class taught its students about food.

He hadn't really bothered to change after his shift at the diner. Jeans, t-shirt, and a bandanna weren't too non-dress code for the Wayne Foundation, right?

While there wasn't actually a dress code, most of the donors were in suits at least and black tie at most, so Eliot did rather stand out.

Hannibal paused by him after letting the bar know that the floral simple syrup would be just a moment longer and nodded. "I take it you are local, rather than imported for the occasion?" he gestured at the more formal guests. "I don't remember seeing you before."

The Wayne Foundation was perfectly accepting of all clothes provided they didn't detract from the ultimate goal of doing good. Since Eliot wasn't wearing pants made of guns or anything, he was fine, for the time being at least.

Since Karla insisted on paying Raven in her position as Court Healer, and since she had little to spend it on, she frequently gave it away to those in need. For tonight, she'd converted a portion of it to US currency so she could make a donation to the spring charity banquet.

She got a glass of sweet white wine from the bar and looked around to see who else was there.

The nice thing about wearing a suit as an uniform meant that you didn't have to dress up specifically for fancy events. She could have bought a fancy dress, Rosalind supposed, but truthfully she was far more comfortable in her suit anyway.

Rosalind ignored the open bar in favour of looking around and seeing who was out and about.

Bruce wouldn't be taking any donations. Those went to his secretary, standing over there in the lovely blue dress. He would gladly point you in her direction after thanking you from the bottom of his heart, though.

Yup.

And he was going to even manage to resist the temptation to put a spoon of that honey right into his mouth. For charity.

Hannibal was very good at recognizing self-restraint in the face of temptation. He chuckled and clapped Sparkle on the shoulder in passing. "Don't worry; there will be plenty left over."

After making sure her parents were settled in, Rilla stepped into the kitchen...accompanied by Susan who didn't believe that Rilla could cook a lick without intense supervision.

"It's fine, Susan," Rilla said with a smile. "I'm allowed to do this."
