Yeah, Mike was at Caritas and trying his hardest to keep his spirits high. And he loved summer so he was going with that as a them tonight. Not that he'd done much more with that than just use it as inspiration for the specials board. But sometimes that was enough to get his mind off things.

He was currently also trying to convince Tino to go and find a floppy summer hat or something to wear.

Hard to believe it had taken Aeryn this long to stop in at one of the bars, considering that was usually the first place they would find when she was on Moya, so let's not dwell on that too much.

"I'll have a beer," Aeryn said, taking a seat. She still knew way too little about this planet, but she knew she liked beer, and she was kind of proud of herself for that.

Oh thank God, someone to distract him. Tino was no good at being distracting.

"Sure thing," Mike said, pushing away from the bar with an easy smile (well, it looked easy) on his face. "Any particular preference, or it it just anything that won't poison you?"

"Definitely stay away from the poison," Aeryn said, looking like she wasn't entirely sure he was joking. "Other than that, I don't really care."

"We don't actually sell poison here," Mike thought to say as he was picking a beer. "To the best of my knowledge. Don't know 'bout the Devil's Nest, though. They might." And that wasn't entirely a joke because come on, it was run by a vampire. "Probably have to order it specifically to get it, if they do."

"Yeah, I guess that's something we do serve here." He set the beer down in front of him. "But we also have beer to help it go down. So, it's all good."

She was quiet for a moment as she sipped the beer and looked around, asking, "Is something wrong with your band?"

"Well, they're dead."

"Are they supposed to be?"

"Probably not," Mike hazarded, scratching the back of his head – and man, he needed a haircut. "In the grand scheme of life. But they're zombies, so... They've been like that since I got here like two years ago."

"A zombie." Someone hadn't gotten to a certain zombie-like episode yet. "So this is normal for that species?"

And he could now pretty much assume she wasn't from anywhere with any significant amount of horror movies around.

"Uh, yeah, I guess you could say that," he decided after a second of hesitation. "I mean, it's a pretty stable state for them. Apart from the occasional incident with a limb falling off."

Aeryn's mouth opened and closed, and then she just took a sip of her beer again.

"I'd rather avoid seeing that, if at all possible," she said finally.

"I'll try to warn you to look away if it seems like it's about to happen," Mike joked, casting one last glance at the zombies before shaking his head and turning his full attention back on her. "Take it you're a more recent addition to our fair island, then?"

"I'm relatively new," Aeryn said. "I don't get out much."

"That's a shame." And that was a flirty smile, though not obnoxiously so. He leaned against the bar. "How are you finding it so far? At least we haven't scared you off yet."

"It's better than a lot of other alternatives, I suppose," Aeryn said with a shrug. "There's no end to strange things happening, but that's nothing new, and no one's tried to kill me recently, so it more or less balances out."

Either one of those things could be pluses or minuses in Aeryn's world.
