JGOB- Tuesday morning

Considering she had a shift later, Kitty decided to take her usual everyday Caritas management work over to JGOB for a change of scenery. She had coffee, a pastry, and was taking up a table with paperwork and other not-fun stuff that she had to get done, but at least she had some soothing, bland, inoffensive coffee shop music to listen to.

Also, arguing baristas. Can't forget the arguing baristas.

"Kitty Pryde. I've been looking for you," Spider-Woman said. Thank god for windows! "I need your help. Don't mind the bird."

She realized that she probably looked weird, wearing her full, dirty costume, smelling of smoke and jet fuel, wavering slightly due to exhaustion, and with a large black bird on her shoulder on loan from Loki.

"You look like you've had an interesting day," Kitty said, pushing out a chair for her to sit down.

"I went back to my home Earth just as Galactus was starting to eat New Jersey, and I'm really hoping the G-word in that sentence means something to you," Spider-Woman said as she sat down.

"Yeah, it does," Kitty frowned. "What do you need?"

"Any information you have," Spider-Woman said. "My universe didn't have a Galactus before he came over from another universe. We are completely unprepared and trying to come up with any way to stop him. And the first thing we need to do that is information. And, after getting information from Loki and his probably evil, definitely sassy bird on my shoulder, maybe some verification of what I've already heard."

"Oh, and Reed Richards is no help, he's a megalomaniacal, genocidal maniac on my world, so he's off the table. Now, what do you know about Galactus?"

"I don't really have experience with him, but I have friends that have," she said, thinking back. "He's a big flying purple planet-eater, I know that. Super strong, super powerful... you've probably figured that out."

"Well, New Jersey is mostly gone, planes are crashing due to energy surges, and our heaviest hitters have barely managed to get his attention so far," Spider-Woman sighed. "As far as you know, is it true that Earth's never found a way to actually beat him? Just drive him off for a while?"

"That's true," Kitty sighed. "We tried talking him out of it once. Another time it took someone going all Phoenix on him to get him to back off."

"Going Phoenix?" Spider-Woman asked. She reached into a hidden pocket and pulled out her phone, desperately running through some SHIELD files. "Goddammit. We had a mutant who was supposedly connected to some kind of Phoenix God that made her incredibly powerful. Last reports I have here, she lost that connection two years ago."

"Jean?" Alternate realities were always weird. "I don't know the differences between our realities, but if you have Rachel Summers there, she might be able to help, too."

Since, you know, technically Rachel wasn't supposed to exist in Kitty's world and all.

"Yeah, Jean. Still a really powerful telepath, though. But she just got done being the dictator of a floating mutant haven. I don't think she's going to have it in her to do much," Jessica said. "Summers... Like Cyclops? I think his older brother is still running around somewhere, but I'm not seeing anything about a Rachel."

"There's a good chance she's not born yet. It's kind of complicated," Kitty said, shaking her head. "Was worth a shot. Jean was a dictator?"

Priorities, Kitty.

"She inherited the Twin Cities of Heaven and Hell from Xorn and Zorn and took a harder line than either of them," Spider-Woman said, careful not to say too much. "Things were resolved. She's much less political these days. But getting back on track, this confirms what I've heard. Loki mentioned that freaking Odin fought him to a draw. And the only thing you can think of is something we can't access anymore."

Spider-Woman sighed. "Still, information helps. Thanks, Kitty. Hopefully Iron Man's having more luck with solutions than I am."

"Anytime, Jessica. I can try to dig some stuff up, too, see if anyone in my neck of the woods knows something I don't," Kitty promised.

"No time for that, unfortunately," Spider-Woman said. "I've only been able to stay here this long because space-time is apparently screwed up around my world and it's still Sunday afternoon. I have to go back pretty much now and hope that I haven't stayed too long."

"I'll take good vibes, prayers, whatever, though."

"That I can do," Kitty said. "Hope it works out."

Which, you know, felt trite. But she did.

"Not as much as I do," Spider-Woman said. "Come on, Ikol, it's tim to get a portal."

With a bomb threat. Good times.
