Cafe Fina [Monday Afternoon]

Dormouse wanted to come to this Parent's Weekend thing the island was holding this weekend. Hatter had told her he'd think about it but he was leaning pretty heavily to the no side. He wasn't sure he wanted to bring Wonderland here and to give people hints as to who he was. They'd figure it out sooner or later but he preferred later.

At least Jack Chase hadn't wanted to come. That would have been a study in patience. Hatter was counting his lucky stars while he looked over some new tea flavors and did some inventory on the things he needed to order soon.

TODAY'S TEA SPECIALS
Blueberry Kona Pop Tea Blend
Youthberry Wild Orange Blossom Tea Blend
Maharaja Chai Samurai Tea Blend

Cafe Fina was open and Hatter was in, actually doing work today!

Hannibal had quite a lot of things to take care of, now that he was living on the island full-time, but even he needed a break from time to time.

And Hatter had promised to make him some very good tea.

He smiled and breathed in the scents as he came in the door, looking around for Hatter.

"Clearly not," Hannibal answered, equally amused. "Or the promise of your excellent tea."

"Naturally," Hannibal answered. "Tea and good conversation," he amended. "Terribly offensive, isn't it?"

"You couldn't possibly be so cruel." Hannibal shook his head. "Whatever would I do?"

Hannibal smiled. "More likely go back home and make my own very good coffee. Or tea. But the conversation would be lacking." The idiotic flamingos were his only guests currently, and they didn't speak. Thankfully.

...at the moment.

Hannibal could totally live with someone else! So long as they didn't interfere with his lifestyle.

He'd been planning on it, actually. There were two rooms he'd had specially decorated.

He grimaced and shrugged it off. "I'm quite happy alone, thank you. Should I need conversation, I will simply have to visit. Or pick up a phone." He grinned. "Speaking of which, have you managed yours yet?"

It'd been long enough that she'd actually warmed back to the idea of tea, and Irene hadn't had a chance to mercilessly interrogate Hatter about his dates on Saturday.

These were equally good reasons to stop in, yes.

"So is 'youthberry' a real thing or just a clever name for marketing?" she called, reading the sign.

"And here I was all ready to set off on a daring expedition to find the mythic youthberry and grow my own," Irene sighed, wandering over. "Not that I need it."

She was deeply modest today, as always.

"Not yet," Irene said with a coy smile. "Makeup and beauty sleep are amazing things. D'you know someone actually asked me for my identification when I ordered a drink the other day? So I must look like I'm underage, still."

No, she just looked under forty, because she was, but still.

"How've you been, dear?"

"Shhhh." Irene actually put her finger to her lips. "Don't jinx us, luv. We've got that visitor's thingie this weekend. You can't possibly think the strangeness'll hold off when there's promise of an audience."

"Kind of hard to get visitors when everyone who'd visit thinks you're no longer amongst the living," Irene pointed out with a slight smile. "Lucky me, I'll be spared."

She didn't feel that lucky, and part of her actually hoped that the one person who did know she was alive might turn up, but she knew that was stupid.

"But Dormouse, really?" That was a much more interesting train of thought. "Is she very sleepy? In the stories she sleeps in a teapot."

"He's quite heroic in the story," Irene said thoughtfully. "Even if he has awful taste in pudding. But if no one turns up for you, then that's probably all the better -- I'm planning on having a delightful time embarrassing the hell out of all my students by talking to their parents. You should find something similarly devious to do."
