The Perk, Thursday night

Yeah, screw it, it had been a super long day. Flash had come super close to dying naked and the size of an ant in space, the world was almost overtaken by robots, the Secret Avengers were decommissioned, things sucked.

Flash figured that he had his options of comfort drinks right now. One would keep him up all night, one would make the night even worse than the day. Whatever, he was choosing coffee. And he was choosing to wear his symbiotic armor with everything but the mask. The Secret Avengers were dead. Long live the Secret Avengers. Flash was going to enjoy his coffee.

Kitty had gotten back from Westchester today, and still had a bunch of work to do, and therefore it was time for coffee. As she came back from the counter with her drink and noticed him in the middle of the coffee shop in his uniform, she said, "Hey there?"

"In the past 24 hours I've been in an exploding space station, almost killed a friend who turned out to be an evil Life Model Decoy, and helped stop a plot by a bunch of evil robots to assimilate the world," Flash said. "And my Avengers team disbanded, so I'm on Reserve status now. So I'm mostly tired."

"Definitely sounds like home," she said wryly, and hopefully he didn't mind her taking a seat across from him. "How're you doing?"

"Better than I was after either of the last two end of the world scenarios I've been part of," Flash sighed. "I wasn't stuck in Hell and Manhattan didn't turn into millions of giant spiders. I probably won't even have nightmares when I eventually get to sleep."

"I'm an X-Man," she said, which felt a little weird saying in the present tense, but hey. "I've missed classes because of that move."

To be fair, the Xavier School had never been that interested in actually schooling her.

"Okay, serious question about that," Flash said. "Aren't the X-Men all in their twenties or whatever? Do they have actual high school classes? I've never been able to figure that out."

"The X-Men tend to be older now- I was one when I was thirteen- and we're the ones teaching the classes," Kitty explained. "It's a real school for kids to learn how to use their mutant abilities, but there are really classes. Like they wanted me to teach computer science."
