Apparently there was only so long you could lurk outside a hospital room glaring at doctors and nurses before you were politely encouraged to leave. Allie would have fought to stay, except she recognized that her growing frustration was going to wind up causing bloodshed. After being assured that someone would get a message to her if there was any change in Kaidan's condition, Allie had booked a portal home just in time for her shift at the bar.

It probably wasn't going to be the most productive shift. Instead Allie was going to spend it staring at her phone, waiting for a message.
