The Beach, Thursday Evening
Mike had given some bullshit excuse as to why he wasn't attending the Hale Thanksgiving thing. Any made-up reason to be too busy was better than saying last weekend had messed him up so badly he didn't want to deal with the holiday at all in any way.
It was too cold to be sitting on the beach with a beer, but Mike was doing so anyway. This was his Thanksgiving. Or his mourning time for something long gone. Whatever it was, it was private. He'd been keeping a tight lock on everything since he'd woken up on Monday, and he had every intention to keep on doing that.
God, he missed Tampa right about now.

Her random circuit of the island eventually brought her to beach. Given the cold, she was surprised to find someone already there.
"Hey."

Mike hastily rubbed the back of his hand across one eye as he looked up. His smile was... a little forced.
"Hey," he said. "Wasn't expecting anyone else to be here."

Nice job, man.

"Hey whatever makes you happy," she shrugged. Or not. Because he just seemed off for some reason. "Is everything okay?"

Ish.

Not that Allie really had much room to talk considering her holiday plans included skulking about the island on her own for a few hours, but hopefully Mike wouldn't realize that.

He'd realized that much.

Probably by how he didn't. But.

"Figure I'll go back to the house, have a few more beers, and then hit the sack."

But, yeah. He probably needed to at least pretend to not be such a fucking sad sack. So he nodded. "Yeah, okay."

"I know, I'm sorry." He scracthed the back of his head with his free hand. "Just going through something I'm... not very good at dealing with 's all. Sorry."
