The Devil's Nest, Friday Evening

Tiny was decidedly unhappy about the latest round of cold and wintery weather. Allie decided the best way to cheer him up was to let him sample the drinks she practiced mixing up.

Six drinks later, Tiny was snoring in a corner. Funny how that happened.

[Open bar and it's another snow day with no where to go.]

Mike wasn't super thrilled about the winteriness of it all, either.

But he forgot all that for a moment after making his way into the club. "What's up with sleeping beauty over there?"

"He sampled some of the drinks I was practicing," Allie explained with a grin. "They were a little on the strong side. I'd almost feel guilty about it, but at least this means he's not complaining about the weather any longer."

Mike snickered. "Oh man, that's what happens to people who complain about the weather 'round here? Maybe I should leave right now."

He was too Floridan to be able to deal with this winter quietly, okay.

"Only the people I just tolerate. People I like on the other hand? I'll listen to them," she promised. "And even get them a drink if they need it. Something to warm you up maybe?"

"Please," he said, rubbing his hands together. "You'd think after two winters here I'd be used to this, but I'm not."

Fortunately the DJ had been drinking coffee all evening. It meant there was a fresh pot just waiting to be used for a nice Irish coffee.

"There," Allie said, setting the drink on the bar. "If that doesn't warm you up, I have half a dozen other drinks bookmarked on my phone."

"You're way too good to me," Mike praised her as he reached for the drink. "And I'm gonna make all the specials at Caritas tomorrow into boozey hot chocolate ones, I swear to God."

"I like being able to look out for my friends." Because once upon a time, she wasn't able to. "You realize I'm going to have to stop by if you do that. I might not be able to drink anything like that, but I'm sure it'll smell delicious."

"Might even get extra good chocolate from the candy store for that," he teased, smirking. "Some expensive European stuff. That'd probably be delicious."

"I didn't realize there was that big of a difference," Allie admitted.

Mike shrugged. "I'm not even that sure of it myself, honestly," he said. "But I've heard the Belgian stuff's supposed to be particularly good."

"Well you're just going to have to try it and tell me if there's a difference. That way I'll know what to try the next time there's a weird wish granting weekend." File that under something you'd only say in Fandom.

"Did you make any wishes that weekend?"

"Nah, I kinda missed that one." One of those busy weekends he had sometimes, all work and very little on-island downtime. "Did you? And more importantly, were the results any good?"

Parker had decided that at this point, exploring more of Fandom was necessary. She had bolt-holes in the warehouse district, but knowing the exits from everywhere else was good too.

Craning her neck as she looked around, she asked Allie, "So where's the back door?"

Considering how Allie grew up in the Fringe, she definitely understood that logic.

"That way," she said, motioning over her shoulder. "Any particular reason you want to know?"

"Not yet. But there probably will be." Parker wandered back over to that area, peering at the passed-out Tiny as she sauntered by. "What's his deal? Did you knock him out?"

"He drank too much." And Allie had made the drinks that caused it. So technically that was a yes. "Just be careful if you ever do go out that way. I'm pretty sure that's how the gremlins get in and out of here."

Parker gave Allie a sharp look, then wandered back over to the customer side of the bar. "Somepony told me about those." Thanks, Pinkie. "But I haven't seen one yet. Could I get a root beer?"

Conversational travel warning: sudden veering ahead.

"They turn up every once in a while and play poker in the back room. We've come to an agreement. They don't bite me and I don't slice them," Allie explained with a nod of her head towards where her sword was propped up behind the bar.

She placed Parker's root beer in front of her. "So far it's worked out for all of us."

"Shiny sword. I have a friend who likes those." Eliot's favorite Christmas present was that katana that Nate go him. Parker slurped her root beer, and turned around and around on her bar stool before winding up facing Allie again. "You look like a student."

"It's a good weapon. You never have to worry about running out of bullets." And it was decidedly more lethal when dealing with another vampire.

"And I'm not a student," she said, just a little insulted. She was tiny, but she didn't look that young did she?

Yes you did, Allie. Though to be fair, Parker was crap at figuring out ages.

"Not a student?" Parker shrugged and nodded. "I'm not big on guns. Knives, though. Those are handy. And forks. Sometimes spoons."

And just think, she was still going to look like that when she turned one hundred.

"Definitely handy." In fact in addition to her sword Allie always had a small knife tucked in her pocket. "But I've never used a spoon as a weapon."

"You go for the eyes," Parker said, gesturing. "Even if you don't connect, it freaks people out." She smiled a little. "So what should I know about this place? Are there any actual devils in it?"

Considering Allie had done just that when she'd had her first run-in with Sarren, she had no problem believing Parker.

"No devils, some vampires, a werewolf or two, and a few other people. Unlike Caritas we card, so it's usually quieter here."
