Ah, business here was doing so well. Leland was feeling quite pleased with himself, and with this lovely island, as he set out to tidy the shop, smiling pleasantly as he did so. Weren't the locals lovely?

They most certainly were. Very lovely people, indeed.

And what kind of shopkeeper would he be if he was closed on a Saturday? He needed to be open! Open so that he could provide the locals with their deepest desires. It was practically his civic duty, after all.

It had been far too late last night to find this shop Anders had allegedly found his phylactery at. But Cassandra would not have been Cassandra had she not appeared at the shop's doors early in the morning the next day, looking some flavor of troubled and determined.

"I am looking for a man called Leland," she announced as soon as she entered.

"Well, then you're in luck, aren't you?" Leland glanced up from some bit of nitpicky tidying that he had been doing, raised an eyebrow, and gave Cassandra a quick nod. "You've just stepped into his shop, and I am he. Is there anything I can do for you?"

Not that he didn't already know.

Leland's eyebrow raised just a little more. He was clearly unimpressed.

"Won't I?" Well, this was certainly news to him. "And would you care to tell me why that is? He seemed quite excited to know its whereabouts."

Allie had noticed the new shop in town and now that it was finally open at a more vampire friendly time, she decided to check it out.

"Why, hello!" Leland smiled up at Allie from where he was doing some manner of paperwork behind the counter. He'd decided to keep the shop open late tonight, as he was going to be here balancing taxes or something anyway, and it never did hurt to be more accommodating to the island's more solar-intolerant residents. "Good evening, and welcome to my shop! Can I help you with anything today?"

"The unfortunate curse of small-town living, I suppose," Leland replied with a nod. "I've been getting an impressive flow of business since I opened shop here. I suspect the traffic will ebb slightly once the novelty wears off."

Or once everyone started dying left and right. Perhaps both.

Drac had also noticed the show was open at a proper time and so found himself wandering in. Just glancing at the items and wondering who would find them 'needful'.

It had been a while since he'd been shopping, so please excuse him as he spent a lot of time looking at things.

"Welcome to Needful Things," Leland greeted, giving Dracula a warm smile from behind the counter. "And I hope you're having a pleasant evening! Please, do feel free to browse, and if you need anything at all, don't hesitate to ask. It's a pleasure to have somebody else in the shop on this lovely night."

... Look, he laid it on a bit thick with everyone, at first.

Dracula totally didn't notice. The last time he'd gone shopping in an actual shop, grovelling was almost currency!

"Thank you. It is a pleasant little shop you have. I am not used to seeing establishments open this late, so I was curious. Have you been here long?"

"Only a matter of weeks now," Leland answered. "Business has been doing quite well for me since I opened up shop here, I decided it might not hurt to put in a few extra hours. I've heard that the island has quite the assortment of people from different walks of life, it stood to reason there might be a few night owls, as well."

Or vampires. Which was pretty close.

Fuck, Sparkle hated this place. He hated this place and he hated the guy who ran it, and the only reason he was back here again tonight was because if he took too damn long before doing so, the guy who owned this place would probably call the cops or something and there was no way in hell Sparkle was willing to go back to jail because of shoplifting some stupid fucking frog.

No fucking way.

So, he had his backpack over one shoulder as usual, but his eyes on the floor and a sour look on his face as he walked into the shop again.

Great. He was here. Wonderful. There was no way this wasn't going to suck.

Oh, it was his favorite rebellious would-be shoplifter. This needle would have to be threaded carefully.

"Welcome back," he said, genially. "I trust this week has been kind?"

"Yeah," Sparkle sighed, shaking his head. "Yeah, I got the thing. It's even the right one, I checked."

He shifted uncomfortably from foot to foot, and then shifted his bag from his shoulder and rummaged inside of it.

"And after this we're even, right? Like... that's that?"

Leland gestured for Sparkle to hand him the hard drive.

"If this is what you say it is, then yes, we're even," he said. He opened his mouth as if he were going to say more, then closed it, as if he had decided against it. "May I see?"

He would only need to look at it to confirm. And then ... and then, another small matter to discuss.

So, a whole bunch of people kept coming into this store. According to that radio place. And that meant either the dude running it was, like, super-hot, and banging people like crazy, or he was selling some good shit. Like maybe weed.

Pam was bored, so she decided to pop in and see if she could figure out which.

Okay, the guy was certainly doable, in an old-guy kind of way, but not hot enough that this store was just filling up with people because they were lining up to bang him. Unless he had an S&M basement? She'd ask about that.

But first --

"I might remind you that marijuana is illegal," he said, mildly. That wasn't a 'no,' but if she was, perhaps, the world's dumbest police officer playing a hunch, he would have covered his bases.

You could tell from her perfectly normal looking eyes.

She sighed, realizing that tack wasn't going to work.

"Okay, if you don't have weed, then is this a sex dungeon or some shit?"
