The Park, Sunday after sunset

"I told you," Allie said, pointing the tip of her sword at the bear. "One hug is all you get. Come near me again and we'll see what you're stuffed with."

Satisfied the bear was staying put for now, Allie went back to moving through the forms Kanin had thought her. Losing herself in the familiar movements, she felt the last lingering effects of the curse fade away. Sadly she was pretty sure the regret over her actions was going to take a lot longer to get over.

Parker had been ducking the bears. "No," she was telling one sternly. "I don't need a hug! I am fine! Go hug that Derek guy!"

Spotting Allie, she waved from her perch up a tree.

Allie took a few seconds to finish the form she'd been working through...Slice, turn, thrust, wipe...before looking up into the tree.

"Now I wish I'd thought of that." Hiding in a tree or siccing the bears on Derek, both were equally good ideas.

"You really are good at that," Parker responded, getting down to a lower branch, but not leaving the tree just yet. "Did you stab any of the huggy bears?"

Although admittedly, that might have been an extreme reaction.

"I had a good teacher." She slid the sword into its sheath and, unwilling to let it out of her hands so soon after getting ti back, slid it onto her back before easily climbing up the tree to join Parker.

"I haven't. They're harmless."

"And annoying." Parker scooted over a little, pleased to have someone join her without her having to ask. "Are you okay? Did that creepy Gaunt guy mess with you?"

"He did." Allie shrugged a shoulder. "I've dealt with worse. I'll deal."

She just had to figure out a way to thank Nick for getting her back to normal.

"He left before we could hurt him." That was Parker's way of dealing. "You're not still sick?" She frowned. "Do vampires even get sick?"

"A smart man." Parker and Allie had similar ways of dealing. She wished Alice was still around. She'd love a zombie hunt to burn off some angst.

"Mostly no. Only if we're staked or really, really hurt, then we'll go into what's called hibernation," she explained. "Where your body can either repair itself or you die. I started slipping into hibernation when I broke the charm."

"Hunh." That almost sounded like Eliot. "I'm glad you're better." Which wasn't just politeness, Parker never said anything she didn't mean, outside of cons. "My friend Eliot's mostly better. Some of the students still look exhausted though."

Allie nodded, appreciating the thought. "They'll recover soon enough. Live on the island long enough, you get used to it. There's the everyday weirdness..." Like the bear currently circling their tree. "Then the stuff that tries to kill you. That usually happens once or twice a year."

"We have to do this again in September?!"

Actually, wasn't that around the time that Eliot got possessed and didn't tell them?

"Island, I am not happy about this!" She glared down at the bear. "You'll tell the Island, right?"

"Sometimes it's in August?"

Just to change things up a bit.

"It sucks, but then it'll do stuff like this to make up for it." Allie glared at the bar. "Which is nice if that's your thing."

"I guess." Parker made a face at the bear, then had to admit, "I did like that week with all the pollen after I got here."

That had been fun.

"And it's a good hideout." Hmm. "Is that why you're here too?"

Don't mind Allie, she was just going to a happy place for a few moments. "That was a good week," she sighed.

"I'm not really hiding. I just came across the Causeway one night and now I can't go back."

"Ugh. Can you go other places?"

Parker swung her legs and was now hanging upside down as the bear lumbered away, then swinging back up.

"Oh yeah. I've been to L.A. To different planets. A space station..." She was trying to play it cool but it was still obvious she was a bit awed by what she'd seen.

That last one was what caught Parker's attention. "A space station? Really? How big was it? Who owned it?"

"Huge. Bigger then you can possibly imagine. It's a whole city and then some." Allie shifted, leaning back against her branch. "I'm not sure exactly who owned it."

"That would be so cool." Maybe she could steal one for Hardison? Parker looked up through the branches, thinking. "I want to move my money to someplace like that. So it'll be safe. Hardison would just want to see all that. He's a geek."

"If you talk to the right person, that could probably be arranged." She'd have to ask Kaidan about it.

"Any suggestions?" Parker stood up on the branch, and said thoughtfully, "Maybe the school will have a trip to one of those."
