Caritas- Tuesday

Kitty was not having a great time of things right now. She'd stayed in New York long enough to see off the now-former students who'd been depowered, had to try to Be There for everyone when she had no idea how to do that, and then there was the worst-timed Father's Day ever. It was at that point that she graduated from depression to the anger part of the cycle.

While she was fine to talk to anyone who came looking for her, she really didn't have it in her to be social enough to be behind the bar, so she'd left that to Tino and went into the back room ostensibly to get paperwork done. In reality, she was ignoring it to throw darts all night while the zombies on the stage worked on their new project, "Music for Yurts."

When Clint came in, Tino was more than happy to send him to the back room to find Kitty, and Clint had no problem distancing himself from the zombies. "Hey," he said, giving her a little wave as he came in. "How's it going?"

"It's going," Kitty said, throwing another dart. "I'm surprised you're not taking the opportunity to get away from me for a while."

Because at least in her mind, she was zero fun to be around since last week.

"Right, because the smart thing to do when you're dealing with something awful is to leave you alone," Clint said, rolling his eyes. "How are you doing?"

She shrugged, but put the other darts down to face him. "Okay, I guess. Not hugely looking forward to work tomorrow."

"I'm sorry," Clint said sympathetically, going to put his arms around her. "Want me to go for you? It might be kind of funny."

"Yes. Do all my jobs for me," Kitty said, wrapping her arms around him too.

"I don't know if you want me running this place. I might put you out of business," Clint said, laughing. "But I can handle teenagers, I think. I signed up to teach again here for the end of the summer."

"Good. You're good at it," she said. "What are you doing this time?"

"A beach class. I'm gonna make 'em run around and sweat and then we're gonna swim. It should be easy for them and easy for me," Clint said. "And I'll get to see what kind of shape some of them are in before we get attacked again."

"Not sure I want to think about anything attacking yet," Kitty admitted. "But I'm jealous of your class."

"You can come visit whenever you want," Clint said. "And relax in the sun and watch us. Emphasis on the relaxing part."

"Do I get to see you run around all hot and shirtless?" she asked.

"If you're there, absolutely. I know what you're in this relationship for," Clint teased, flexing a little as he hugged her.

"It's one of many reasons," Kitty told him. "Like your insistence on trying to make me feel better." In case he didn't know she did appreciate it, even if she was generally blah.

"If the situation was reversed, you'd be doing the exact same thing for me. It's how the whole boyfriend-girlfriend thing works." And how the fiances-in-another-world thing worked too, for the record.
