At this point, Flick was just passing time until his tenure on the island was up. It was getting closer and closer each day. He found that he wasn't all that worried about it anymore. There were fears and uncertainties but weren't there always? He'd deal with them.

He came in and opened the place up, stocking candy before grabbing a chocolate bar for breakfast. He sold a few sour candies to a rickshaw driver and let one of the baristas stand around and flirt with him for awhile.

Productive day so far.

"Okay, teach me everything there is to know about this store," Isabelle declared as she waltzed in.

She should probably have led with another announcement, but oh well.

"...why?" Flick asked, raising an eyebrow. "Are you giving up being a Shadowhunter to get into the candy business or something?"

[seveninchmotto]

"No." Of course not! That would've been silly. "I've given up on being a TA to get into the candy business."

[flickofthewrist]

"You're gonna work here now?" he asked, leaning on the counter and trying to get her to come closer so he could kiss her. "For the guy that looks like me?"

[seveninchmotto]

"Uh huh," she said, nodding and smiling brightly. "I need something extra to occupy my time before the big move, and he handwavily said I could."

[flickofthewrist]

"It's kinda boring," he warned, passing her some candy he'd been eating earlier. "But there's free candy."

He wasn't sure if Bucky allowed that but he hadn't told him no either.

Isabelle wouldn't care, either way. She took the candy, and in doing so, finally brought herself close enough for that kiss he'd been after. "I'm sure I'll find ways to keep myself occupied. Also, you can bring me lunch."

"Can I?" He leaned forward and gave her a light kiss. "What if I'm busy?"

[seveninchmotto]

"If you're busy, then you don't bring me lunch," she teased, smiling from the close distance. "I didn't think I'd have to spell that out for you."

[flickofthewrist]

Flick kissed her again before he settled back and returned her smile. "When are you going to be working?"

[seveninchmotto]

"Sundays." Because it was the most boring day of the week as it was. "So try not to leave the store all gross, baby."

"Maybe I'll leave you dirty notes instead."

And hope to God that Bucky didn't randomly wander in before Isabelle showed up.

"Ooh." Look at her objecting. Just look at her. (There was no objecting.) "Maybe you should. I'm sure that would brighten up my day."

[flickofthewrist]

"Maybe I will, then," he said agreeably. "You might have to keep those for the next few months when I'll be busy doing more school things."

Totally and radically different school but school nonetheless.

Isabelle bounced in place. Just the one time

"I talked to Alec," she said. "He said it's official now. It's public news that they're really getting the Academy going again."

[flickofthewrist]

"Wow." A part of him had thought it wouldn't ever really happen. Something would come up and it'd be pulled away from him. Guess that wasn't gonna happen though. "There anything I have to do to enroll? Sign up or something?"

[seveninchmotto]

"I have Alec on it," she told him, leaning against the counter. "It's a little more old school than that. Pun absolutely intended."

[flickofthewrist]

"Alec?" he repeated, looking thoughtful. "So you're not sure what it might entail?"

[seveninchmotto]

"I think we just need to make a case for why you're worthy." Because Shadowhunters went around using words like worthy in relation to a school. "Because you don't have Shadohunter blood."

[flickofthewrist]

"Ah." Flick rubbed his wrist. "I don't know how much worthiness I really have. Punching your dad might not be enough."

[seveninchmotto]

Isabelle reached forward and poked him in the chest with a finger. Gently.

"You are worthy."

[flickofthewrist]

"I haven't done that much," he argued, glancing down at his chest. "Not when its compared to other people who might be signing up. Will it be enough?"

[seveninchmotto]

"It's enough." It was more than enough, and if anyone disagreed with her, there'd be hell to pay. "If they're reaching out to other mundanes, they will mostly be mundanes who have no idea the Shadow World even exists."

[flickofthewrist]

"And I punched the Inquisitor," he said and sighed at that, shaking his hand like it still hurt. "Good job, me."

[seveninchmotto]

"The Inquisitor had it coming."

The response was immediate and definite.

"And it probably netted you some points with the head of the New York Institute," she added. "She might not outwardly approve of that kind of thing, but... Well, it shows courage."
