Groovy Tunes, Saturday

Oh, sweet, beautiful weekend. Jono had been looking forward to it all week, just so that he would have a proper excuse to make his way to the Groovy Tunes to go through the new music selection. A new single by Janet Jackson, an import of the Very Best of Art Garfunkel (UK Edition), a new album by The Doors (which would be coming home with him, thank you) and A-ha (who Jono was sort of surprised to see was still making music), and a handful of DVDs...

Huh. Darren Hayes was still relevant enough to be putting out a video?

Look, it was entirely possible that Jono was well aware that there was a big thing of some sort going on around the island this weekend (he was a telepath, thank you, and everything had gotten rather more loud upstairs than the island generally involved), and it was also completely possible that he was throwing himself into his job today very thoroughly so that he'd actually have the spoons later to deal with it all.

And if he actually happened to sell any music today, even better, come to that. He still had the Help Wanted sign in the window, with a few shifts left over through the week, though he wasn't holding his breath (ha) that there would be any sort of stampede for people to come claim them.

[OOC: Groovy Tunes is open! And OCD-Free!]

"So you're still here, huh?"

There was an April! Hello!

"You got it," she said. "One of those accidental visits everyone loves so much."

She wasn't that annoyed by it, really. If anything, it was a welcome distraction from paperwork.

"I like what you've done with the place." What she really meant was that she liked that he was still keeping it around, but if there were any changes, she liked those too.

Eggsy had ignored the weird crowds in town, making his way around until a help wanted sign managed to catch his eye. A music shop wouldn't be the worst pace to work. Wasn't flipping burgers, at least.

He went on in, hoping to scope the place out a bit. And not even for theft! This time.

"That sign still good?"

The whole... voice. Thing. It was making Eggsy frown and look around for a moment to confirm it was that guy talking.

"Can't tell with some folks, yeah?"

[identity profile] hatesmoststuff.livejournal.com 2015-09-05 02:36 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yeah, 'cause you've been so bored without me," she said easily. "I'm good. I'm married now. I work at this job placement foundation in DC. I get to tell 22-year-olds to get off their asses and stop making their parents pay for all their shit." Which was not something April would have loved to hear at 22. Weren't time-jumps fun? "How about you?"

If he wanted to not steal things on a tiny island, yes. Yes, he did.

"Depends on the job. It ain't a janitor, right?"

You lost him at grunge, Jono. IT WAS A GENERATION GAP.

"Don't know older shit that well," Eggsy replied, more than okay with talking himself up. "But catch on quick enough."

Now, if you were talking old musicals, Eggsy would have a strange sort of knowledge about them.

Well, no one could blame Jono for being surprised. It wasn't like April wore a ring or, you know, had sent her Fandom friends invitations to her spontaneous ceremony in her then-boyfriend's living room. Oops.

"Good call," she said. "Chill adulthood suits you. Is that 'partner' like business partner, or 'partner' like ooh, there's someone in your life?"

Marriage and long-term unions for everyone!

The music you might see on The Only Way Is Essex and then cry because you watched The Only Way Is Essex.

"Dizzee Rascal ain't bad. Timmy Trumpet." Because he was the chaviest chav ever, Jono.

Yes, it was safe to say that Eggsy would not fit into that mold. So, way to branch out. And do a thorough background check.

"Yeah?" he asked, smiling brightly. "I can do Mondays."

[identity profile] myfaireggsy.livejournal.com 2015-09-05 03:25 pm (UTC)(link)
"Eggsy," he replied, keeping with the proud tradition of weird nicknames from Britain. "Where you from?"

"Do the students still come flocking at the sight of those signs?"

Cable had always had this habit of occupying doorways like they should be making way for him, instead of him making his way through. Somehow several years of being a parent hadn't lessened that effect any.

It got Eggsy to grin again. "Bounced around a lot," he said with a shrug. "Lot of shit estate housing in south London. Third ex-pat I've run into."
