Demon Marcus, Thursday
There was a dance coming up, so Ada placed a sign in the window and made herself comfortable behind the counter with her sewing supplies and the pile of alterations. Maybe one of them would give her an idea of what she should wear for her own dress.

Once she had entered she regretted the decision immediately. She had no idea that Ada was working here.

"Good afternoon," she greeted a little tensely, still standing by the door. "I am looking for a dress."

"Of course I wouldn't want a short one." Looking at the clothes on display rather than Ada, she added: "The fashion nowadays is truly tasteless."

Sorry, Lucille, Ada was of 'the less clothes I have to wear, the better' club.

Turning to Ada, she almost smiled. "Should I ask you for suggestions?"

If there was one thing Lucille hated more than being laughed at, it was being laughed at behind her back.
Eyeing Ada suspiciously, Lucille replied: "I see. Well, I am considering going to the dance and I need a new dress for that. A green perhaps, or a red." She spoke neutrally, doing her best to express no emotion.

This cold-shoulder was strange, but Ada did her best to let it roll off her. Just another Townie thinking they were better than the Help, apparently. "Green or red," she said thoughtfully, starting to wander the racks. "Longer sleeves, I'm guessing, with a fuller skirt?"
no subject
"Yes. Of course." Lucille waited, standing somewhat stiffly, studying Ada as she looked for suitable dresses.

"I would like to try it on."

She carried all the dresses over to a fitting room, and hung them up inside. "I'll keep looking, but you just holler if you need help with any of the laces."
no subject
Why would she need help with the laces? Did Ada think she couldn’t dress herself?
The first one Ada had showed her fit nicely over her corset, and Lucille managed to lace up the back on her own. As she stepped out of the fitting room to use the larger mirror, she felt herself blush. It was a pretty dress, but she had never worn anything as revealing, and she felt exposed.

"I might bring you one or two a bit more daring!" Ada warned her as she came over, a pile of fabric in her arms. "Just to see if you like the color or the style of skirt. If you don't find something you like here, I can always try ordering in once I know your tastes."
"But really," Ada grinned and offered the dress to Lucille. "When else to try new styles than in a new place?"

The red dress that Ada offered her was beautiful. Lucille reached out to run her hand across the fabric.
"Do you think it will fit?" What she really wanted to ask was 'Do you think it would suit me?' but that was too... something.

"I will do that." She returned to the fitting room with the red dress, and changed into it from the green one. This one was trickier though, and Lucille found herself struggling with the hooks at the back.
