Today's shipment was filled with... costumes? Animal pajama costumes, by the look of things, mostly different types of rabbits.

These were clothes? Townies were sostrange. She dressed up a few mannequins, and then set about sorting out the rest of the shipment.

Demon Marcus was open, and ocd free so, so cuddly.

Lucille had said she wanted to be friends with Ada, but she wasn't used to friendships, and she still felt a little awkward. That was probably just a remnant from their first meeting, but it had still made her postpone seeking her out for a while.

Today, however, she entered the shop during Ada's shift, stopping just inside the door.

"Good afternoon," she greeted, a little tensely.

Ada looked up from where she was seated on the floor, surrounded by boxes. "H'llo, Lucille," she said, looking mildly overwhelmed. "You any good at knowin' animals?"

Look, she had an inventory sheet in front of her, and didn't know what a budgie or a puffin or a panda was, let alone able to tell if that was the animal represented what was actually in her box.

"Animals?" Lucille looked a little confused. "I suppose I have studied them in books. Are these supposed to be clothes?"

"I think so? They're soft, at least, an' there's pictures of people wearin' em on the tags?" Ada offered, holding one out for Lucille to examine. "But I gotta make sure I got the right ones according to the inventory sheet, but I dunno what an alpaca is, or what a zebra looks like."

Ada knew practical animals, like horses, cows, bunnies, or chickens. Not so much llamas or penguins.

Lucille examined the thing. "I see what you mean," she said. "A zebra looks like a horse with black and white stripes. And an alpaca is a furry llama, which is... like a large sheep."

At least this was a proper, friendly conversation.

"Sheep look like dogs that got stuck in a cloud, right?" Ada asked, sorting them a bit more confidently now. "Fluffy and stuff?"

"You have no sheep where you are from?" Lucille asked. There were a lot of them in Cumberland.

Smiling just a little, she said:" "Dogs stuck in a cloud sounds like a fair description."

"I seen 'em from a distance, but never up close," Ada said. "In people's fields while we drive down the road is the closest I ever got, or pictures in a book."

"Red panda..." she continued, reading off her list. "Is that an imaginary animal, or a real one?"

"I am not sure." Lucille frowned a little. "I have not encountered them in any book, and they are not native to England. And I admit I avoid getting too close to sheep. They aren't particularly charming animals."

"Animals are kinda like people, I figure. Some of 'em are just fine, but most of 'em are not interested in bein' friendly," Ada said with a shrug. "What's a sheep gotta say to a person? Or a person to a sheep?

That response was far more generous than anything Lucille would say, but she gave a small nod.

"Perhaps I just don't have much to say to sheep."

"I brought you something," she added, now blushing slightly. "As you were kind enough to send me a flower."

She pulled a wrapped gift from her bag and offered it to Ada. It was suspiciously book-shaped.
