Demon Marcus, Thursday
It was raining out, which always gave Ada a headache. Rain rain go away, come again-- never, actually. Ada would be fine with never.
She turned up the music to try and drown out the sound of the rain, and grabbed the next item off the alterations rack before digging out the sewing kit. With the prom-dance coming up, there was plenty of work to do to distract herself.
Demon Marcus was open, and the seamstress was in!

im so bored what r u up 2
... Ada was going to have to deal with his prime texting technique.
no subject
at work fixing clothes for prom why? if u r bored come entertain me
Pfffft like Ada was going to complain about his texting technique. She'd only just barely passed the grammar tests for homeschool kids, and that was years ago.
no subject
It did not make any sense!
no subject
why r u having layovers for portals? she typed, brow furrowing. portals just zap don't they why are there layovers?
if ur blowing off rest of week's classes without me you suck
no subject
That was... one way to look at it, surely.
ill be back tomorrow i hope
no subject
not make bad choices? what fun is that? i'm sorry who are you where is my friend bc that is dumb.

Dante was not naming names. But situations, yes.
no subject
dante you are a walking all-you-can-eat buffet please do not play poke-the-zombie
no subject
'Course he had to fit in a dirty joke somewhere.

m not goin swingin at any of em if i can help it tho.
no subject
Look, she wasn't used to worrying about other people like this.
how long is ur layover? not sure how to entertain u from here.
no subject
Dante almost shrugged at his own damn phone, but repressed it.
ill let u know. depnds on if friend is stupid or no.
Yes, probably. All signs pointed to 'yes'.
no subject
Which was why she immediately crossed her eyes, stuck out her tongue, and snapped a picture of that charming face to send to him. ur gonna get stir-crazy if you sit there for much longer
no subject
Provided he and Anders could ditch their anxiety-rage for long enough to even think about that sort of thing, sure. guess no cat around huh, he added, after his phone - terrible wifi signal and all - managed to download the picture.
no subject
cat? you mean the one that hangs out down the street near the junkyard and the kwik stop? I don't think I've seen it on this side of the park before.
no subject
got your tongue, he specified. He stared down at his phone for a while. i can find my own. just take more than find.
He could knock people out and take their stuff - though he could never get himself to do it to regular, normal people. (He'd bite anyone who said anything about it.)
no subject
oh! nope, no cat got my tongue. besides takes more than a kitty to make me stop talking or be quiet or behave. She thought about it for a moment, then-- you could make up stories about the other people waiting for their connections, that's always fun.
no subject
Could you sigh in a text message? He was trying.
no subject
Yes, she could hear that sigh over text message.
guessing ur too wound up to nap, or I'd say get ur sleep now
no subject
Dante eyed his phone.
tell me a story r smthn
no subject
no subject
Yes, you lead with that, Dante.
no subject
She was a Barker, dammit, good stories had to be told as in-person as possible, not via text message.

Yeah, it would never work, but a girl could try.
no subject
At least this was a bright spot in a shitty day.

"You want a story or not, Mister Sassy Pants?" she asked, shaking her head. "Or did you just trick me into calling you so you can tease me?"
Which, that would be fine, but she was going to tease right back.

"Let's see...oh! So, once upon a time, there was a carnival princess who was probably ten or eleven or something around that age and the carnival had just pulled into Indiana. She hated Indiana--" because for some reason her mother always remembered she liked Indiana, but didn't remember her daughter, "--because the people seemed incredibly dull."
no subject
no subject
MEAN, Ada.
"So, the Carnie Princess and some of her loyal retainer-cousins, decided the scew with the locals this time around."

You can see where this is going, Dante.
