With prom over and finals still in progress, Ada wasn't really expecting a super-busy day. Instead, she was settled behind the counter with the book Isabela had lent her and a smoothie.

Ada wasn't the fastest reader in the world, but if it stayed quiet, she might actually finish the book before dinner.

"What're you drinking?" Dante asked, pushing into the shop.

Funnily enough, the need for distraction hadn't exactly abated since last weekend.

"Smoothie," Ada said, looking up with a grin as she turned the page. "You'd hate it, there's green things in it."

There was soda and other things under the counter, but why mention that when she could be a brat?

"Ew," Dante said, shaking his head. "I ever mention you have horrible taste in food?"

This was not enough to stop him from approaching the counter, of course.

"It ain't like it tastes like grass, just like pineapples," Ada said tranquilly, putting her bookmark into the book. "An' if'n you don't like pineapples, I don't think we can be friends."

"I like pineapples on pizza?" Dante volunteered, parking his ass down on the counter. "But there's nothing green involved."

"Not even green peppers or onions?" How Dante was not dead of vitamin deficiencies, Ada had no idea. "Jalapenos?"

"On a pineapple pizza?" Dante said, frowning at her. "That's like... cursing in church or something."

Admittedly, he'd totally curse in church.

"Like you wouldn't curse in a church," Ada scoffed, because, well, she'd met him.

She did pull out one of the randomly-flavored sodas from under the counter to offer him, because she wasn't a totally terrible friend.

Thankfully, it wasn't Virility.

Dante snagged the can and saluted her with it. Sloppily, of course. "Not the point," he said. "Pineapple on pizza goes with ham and cheese, that's it."

Clearly what Fandom needs is mind-control soda

"You are utterly unimaginative when it comes to pizza toppings," she sighed, shaking her head. "Jalepenos are nice and spicy to offset the pineapples, an' from what I remember of ham, they're pretty good together."

Sometimes Ada really missed eating meat, especially hamburgers, but it wasn't worth the way it made her scales spread.

"Yeah, but jalapenos go better with Meat Lovers," Dante argued.

Of course, he thought everything went better with Meat Lovers. "Why waste it on the purity of pineapple pizza?"

"If'n it's purity of pineapple you want, why put it on pizza at all? Just eat a whole one by yourself," she teased. "Or share it with me, I won't say no to some pineapple."

"Because it's the pizza that makes the pineapple worth eating," Dante said, sighing loudly.

He made big eyes at Ada. "Respect the pizza."

"'M startin' to think your religion is pizza," Ada teased. "Must be so hard, bein' around a pizza-heathen like me, who don't put no meat on it."

"Hey, I'll eat other take-out," Dante said, because his love of pizza was generally embellished upon by all the girls who liked to tease him all the time. "But as far as pineapple goes, there's only one way to make it work."

He popped open the cap of his can and took a sip, thinking of some other way to keep the banter train rolling. He was constantly teethering on the edge between maudlin and joking lately.

"Food snob," Ada snickered, shaking her head. "You didn't come all the way out here to make fun of my smoothies, did you? Don't you got finals to keep you busy or somethin'?"

"Like this place has real finals," Dante said, shrugging. "You spend a lot of time with your head in the books for PE?"

"Mr. Bond's class, nah, not really," Ada admitted, not particularly ashamed of the fact. "Bob's class on magical defense, totally, 'cause I ain't intending to make a fool out of m'self."

Also, practical self-defense reasons.

"Eh, who cares?"

Dante took another sip from his can.

"Anyway, I'm just bored," he said. "Then I figured, hey, Ada works Thursdays."

"Aw, I'm your boredom cure?" Ada laughed, poking him in the side with her book. "Well, 'm pretty sure we got in a load of t-shirts with bad puns if'n you want to play dress-up, or there's cards in my bag if'n you want to learn how to not to loose to a ten-year-old..."

Never gonna live that down, Dante.

Dante was pretty much never going to master games of chance. He was many things, including way too straightforward for that.

"Eh, I'll wipe the floor with her if she ever shows up again," he said, waving that off. "I could use a couple of shirts, though."

He could always use a couple of shirts.

"Regular shirts or fun going-out shirts or what?" she asked, though she was already getting up and going through the store, pulling a few off the rack to toss at him.

"Both?" Dante volunteered, holding up shirt number one. "Okay, points for print, minuses for boring," he said. "And too much sleeve."

"Shit like sleeves an' length just ignore," Ada said. "Ain't no thing to adjust that; take me maybe ten minutes or so." It wasn't that hard to re-cut and fit a t-shirt, especially the way Dante liked to wear 'em.

"This one I got in black, gray, and red, an' we have a few similar ones, too."

Dante looked it over, and snickered softly under his breath. "That's so 90s," he said. "I gotta have it. Brightest red you got."

Ada snickered. "Anything that screams 'I'm a 90s scene kid' is for Dante, got it," she said, grabbing the bright red one off the rack. "It ain't fair that you make it look ridiculously good instead a just ridiculous."

"It's 'cause I'm wearing it ironically," Dante said sagely.

"How do you even wear clothes ironically?" Ada asked, rolling her eyes. "They're clothes. You either wear 'em or you don't."

"And I like it best when I don't," Dante said, pointing a finger at her. "But when I do, and it's this fuckin' 90s, I gotta wear it with a smirk."

"You wear everything with a smirk, including nothing," she pointed out. "That's why I threw 'no pants party' at you."

"You're throwing me a no pants party?" Dante asked, deliberately misunderstanding. "Aww."

"You are gonna be lucky if I sleep with you ever again after that prank Fandom just pulled," Ada drawled, clearly not meaning it. "...but 'm not allowed to have no pants parties out front. That's what the back room is for."

"Unless you wanna try on a kilt? That's no pants."

"I dunno," Dante said, holding up his hands in a makeshift scale. "Kilt, or back room with you. Kilt, back room. You're making this hard on me."

"I don't recall inviting you into the back," Ada laughed. "Any 'hard' choice is your own fault."

Not that she was objecting to the idea, mind you. She had just been reading that naughty book 'Bela had lent her. "Though s'pposedly we're all about customer service here. How can I make your choice easier?"

Dante grinned. "How about you tell me what you'd pick for me?" he said.

Ada gave this a great amount of Very Serious Thought. "Well, if what you like best is 'when you don't,' then I have to go with what makes you the most comfortable," she said.
