Around town- Monday evening

The speeder bike Rey had found last week was now back in good working condition. There was still some work to do, but it was enough that she felt comfortable zipping around town (not too fast, there were people around) for a nice little test drive.

At least this felt more like normal life.

[Open if you want to run into/stop her!]

And it was nothing like Mayday's! There was a balance in the normal life.

Mayday was on a run, but she couldn't help but turn around and check out whatever the sound was coming from down the street. She was a little surprised to see the hoverbike that Rey was working on last week was moving. But having seen that, she was less surprised to see Rey on it.

"You got it working?" she checked.

"I guess that would be the second most important thing to work out," Mayday said, jogging over to where Rey stopped. "How is it to ride?"

"I don't even have my learner's permit," Mayday said, staring at the bike with some surprise. If she said no now, would she have a chance to do this ever again? "How safe is it?"

"Yes, but if you ever meet my parents, never tell them about this," Mayday said, kind of giddily. HOVERBIKE.

"I think so. And if I forget it suddenly, I'll do my best to go slow and veer gently into a bush," Mayday said, climbing on. "I'm going to do my best to not have to do that, though."

"Here goes nothing," Mayday lied. Because it was definitely something. Something with a throttle that she depressed as little as she could, but she still zoomed down the street before coming to a stop. For a generous definition of 'zoom,' at least. It was still faster than she had ever ridden a bike before. "That was awesome!" she called back.

"I didn't crash! I... I don't know how to get off of a thing that's hovering," Mayday realized as she started to climb off. She decided to just hop down and trust that she wouldn't roll an ankle or something.

Success!

"I don't think I've ever gone that fast on something that didn't have windows," Mayday said. "That was so much fun."

"I've avoided those. To be honest, they kind of freak me out," Mayday noted. "But I'd ride this thing anytime." Except for when her parents were around, yes. It was slight exaggeration. But only slight.
