Community Center Class: Flavors, Food Choices, and Menu Planning

Hannibal was in front of the community center classroom today, and waited as everybody filed in. He was still moving a bit gingerly, and had a few healing cuts on his face, but he gave them a pleasant nod.

"Good evening. I am Doctor Hannibal Lecter, and this is the course on flavors, food choices, and menu planning. Or, to put it more simply, cooking meals. I am hoping I'll be able to obtain the use of the school's shop for future classes so that we will have stations for everyone, so please give me your e-mail addresses or phone numbers before you leave, and I will let you know if our venue changes. However, today is a simpler class - please let me know your name, what experience you have in cooking, any allergies or aversions to foods you may have, and what you hope to gain from this class."

He nodded at the first person to start.

Sparkle was... here. Possibly against his better judgement. But... here. Maybe not the most engaged student in the room today, and he was purposefully avoiding eye contact with Hannibal, but...

Yeah, once he was in the room, he had kind of realized the flaw in showing up to a class about cooking taught by this particular instructor.

Hannibal had realized that potential beforehand, so he was pleasantly surprised to find Sparkle attending. He wasn't going to make a big deal of it, but he was going to give him a warm smile.

Lucille glanced at Sparkle during the lecture, giving him a small smile that was surprisingly warm for being her. That might not count for much compared to others, but she was glad to see he was here, hoping that meant he felt less upset about what they both had learned at the attempted wedding.

Sparkle gave Lucille a little, tired smile and a nod in turn. He was still upset, of course he was, but considering the things that he was willing to forgive from a lot of people around here that he was especially close to, perhaps that upset wasn't for the reasons most people would expect.

... Not entirely, anyway.

Name, cooking experience, allergies/aversions to food, and what you hope to gain from class.

Okay. Deep breath. No big deal. Righto.

"Sparkle," he said, a bit stiffly. "And I've been in Doctor Lecter's classes before, of course." Talk to the room at large. It was much easier that way. "And I don't really have any allergies, but I could stand to learn more... you know... vegetarian friendly food. To annoy Atton."

Yeah. That was the reason.

He didn't think for an instant that Hannibal wouldn't know better.

"Of course." Hannibal kept his smirk to himself. "Vegetarian meals can be their own sort of challenge, but I'll make certain we cover some foods with that option."

"... Cool." Here was Sparkle. Here was Sparkle actively trying not to be awkward or standoffish. Here was Sparkle actually managing to mostly do a decent job of it, too. "I'm always up for a challenge."

"And I have every faith you'll meet it," Hannibal said, giving him a soft look that wasn't quite a smile.

Lucille smiled at Hannibal. "My name is Lucille Sharpe. I have very little experience in cooking." They had still been able to keep a cook, even if her food had left a lot to be desired. "I hope to learn how to prepare meals myself, as I find that would be a useful skill to have."

They might not be able to afford a cook when she returned, and then she had enjoyed Hannibal's previous class very much. She had no objections at all about learning about cooking from a cannibal.

"I find it to be so," Hannibal answered, smiling back. "I hope this class will offer you some ideas."

No food today. Hannibal's still not quite allowed in the kitchen (so grounded).
