Demon Marcus, Thursday
Ada threw the shop open the moment she got in to town from class, turned up her favorite angry 8Tracks playlists, and sat down behind the counter to pour herself a vodka soda and rummage around for the mystery novel that someone had once left behind. She wondered who this 'Makita' was that had printed her name so carefully inside the cover and then for some reason had not taken her book with her. You didn't write your name on things unless they were too precious to risk losing, if you couldn't replace them easily.
She should know.
The music was loud, the mermaid was angry, and Demon Marcus was open.

"...I had Ethics after that." UGH.

She tilted her head. "And what did my repressed men in robes do to result in the music?" Beyond continuing not not make out.

She shot Isabela an impish grin. "Dealt with his repression, maybe?" Ada, no.

"If he did, he didn't even have the decency to send me pictures." Isabela, no.

Ada put the book down and hopped over the counter to go help him get through the door without the leaning tower of pastry boxes crashing down.

The rest were, predictably, strawberry. Still, as soon as he entered, he beelined for the counter and put the top one down.

"You got me an entire box of chocolate," she repeated, dumbfounded, following him back to the counter. "Why did you get me an entire box of chocolate? You break in t' my room an' trash it or something?"

After years of food scarcity, and getting used to how Fandom was about it, Dante had somehow picked up saying thank you with food.

"You don't owe me nothin', dumbass," she said fondly, leaning in to press a quick kiss against his cheek before hopping up to sit on the counter and grab a pastry out of the box. He didn't owe her, at all, but that didn't mean she was gonna let it go to waste.

"Mmm...you're my favorite person right now."

And promptly got strawberry icing all over his face.

"Go team," she said, offering him a high-five. "I think we both scored a sweet win on this one."
