Vacation had been lovely, but Hannibal was pleased to be back at home, too. His patients seemed glad to see him, too. Some of them far too enthusiastically. He'd blame it on the island, but some people seemed to just be like that. And there hadn't even been any invasions while he'd been gone!

Nevertheless, he was in his office, seeing people, working on another set of wedding invitations, and open to working in friends or colleagues who might want to see him.

"Why can't they both be true? I could have moved as a kid," Deadpool pointed out cheerfully. "After my parents' tragic disappearance."

Hannibal just looked at him calmly.

"Hey, button," he said, reaching out like he was gonna boop Hannibal on the nose from the distance away he was. "Whatcha thinkin'?"

"I am thinking," Hannibal said, "that having observed you, the best method to determine why you have come is simply to allow you speak, since you respond poorly to questions. Please, continue."

"Thank you. That's really helpful." In a manner of speaking. "In west Regina, I was born and raised. On the playground I spent most of my days. Those were the days..."

Hannibal was no longer certain if this were a sitcom or a western he was meant to be sitting through, but...well, he did like to tell his patients that they could speak about whatever they liked during their time with him.

Deadpool simply took that a touch more literally than most.

Look, he was getting distracted by someone at a keyboard drinking a lot to deal with an orange, babbling monster.

"Chillin' out," he said with a shrug. "You know, maxin'. Relaxin' all cool.
And all shooting some b-ball outside of the school."

Hannibal sat back and watched attentively. A sitcom, then. Or one of those maudlin teen movies. He wondered if Deadpool had always used this brand of humor as a defense, or if he'd learned it more recently.
