Groovy Tunes, Sunday
After talking to Dante, Alluka eventually made it into work.
Kathy being around, despite Alluka's urge to cling, was no reason to not come in. Alluka was getting better at that sort of thing these days. Remembering when she had things to do. She'd just have to see if she could see Kathy again before she left.
Once there, she got the shop open properly…
And then spent some time fixing her hair. She loved AirTrek and going fast around the island but unless she had her hair back in braids or something it invariably became a tangled mess. Which was not very fun at all.
"Do you think someone out there has magic that keeps hair from getting tangled?" she asked her bunny.
Her bunny wasn't sure, but thought probably. There was an awful lot of 'out there' to cover. Someone likely could do that.
"Maybe the store will have something," Alluka mused. "Want to go shopping after work?"

Talk to Alluka
Re: Talk to Alluka
So, he'd excused himself to give Hannibal and Abigail some time alone, and he'd made his way to the Groovy Tunes to check up on his own adoptive daughter figure, because there had been a few mentions on the radio, and he remembered keenly how complicated things had been for Alluka, after Kathy had died.
So, here he was. And it was possible that he'd stopped for cookies and hot chocolate for one along the way.
//Hey, Sunshine. How goes it today, luv?//
Re: Talk to Alluka
Totally worth it though.
"Papa!" Alluka finished tying off her last braid and held her arms out for a hug. "Everyone's back this weekend, did you know?"
Re: Talk to Alluka
Today's hug was extra squishy, just in case.
Re: Talk to Alluka
"Kathy's back," Alluka said simply. "But only for the weekend."
Re: Talk to Alluka
He was a lot of things, but the kind of guy who wouldn't give someone the time off to visit a dead friend, he was not.
Re: Talk to Alluka
Re: Talk to Alluka
//The next time people come back, you mean?//
That was a very optimistic way for Alluka to think of it, though he supposed she had no reason not to. After all, if Kathy had come back once...
Re: Talk to Alluka
Re: Talk to Alluka
//I mean, I still wouldn't waste the opportunity that you've got,// he noted, //but you're probably right. This is Fandom. It likes doing this sort of thing on a fairly regular basis.//
And twice for a dead girl was a pretty decent track record already.
Re: Talk to Alluka
"Besides," Alluka said, "if I hadn't come into work, I wouldn't have seen you today."
Re: Talk to Alluka
//And you definitely would've have gotten these,// he agreed, reaching for the bag of cookies and the hot chocolate to present to her. //Or, well, these ones in particular, probably.//
Re: Talk to Alluka
"Thank you, Papa!" Delicious treats! She never turned them down! "Do, do you have anyone visiting today?"
Maybe he'd needed the hug more than she had...
Re: Talk to Alluka
He wouldn't mind getting to see a few more. His list of 'living' friends back home was starting to kind of reach parity with his list of dead ones.
Re: Talk to Alluka
Re: Talk to Alluka
Re: Talk to Alluka
"Maybe you'll see them next time," she said, smiling for him. "Maybe they couldn't make it this time, so they've already made note to show up next time for sure!"
Re: Talk to Alluka
Not that he imagined 'being dead' had a super full itinerary, but he'd been wrong about plenty of things like that before.
Re: Talk to Alluka
Re: Talk to Alluka
//You know what? That's probably exactly it,// he decided. //Parties and games, forever. I'd be jealous if I didn't enjoy living so much.//
... He was kind of more jealous about their ability to die. Which was something he tried not to dwell on too often.
Re: Talk to Alluka
Her bunny watched them both.
"Maybe they've got a window where they can check up on people too. So they don't get lonely either."
Re: Talk to Alluka
Re: Talk to Alluka
Re: Talk to Alluka
//How'd you get to be such a caring girl, hm?//
The multiverse was in such short supply of caring people in general, and here she was.
Re: Talk to Alluka
"I don't know," Alluka said, since she was just being herself. She snuggled against his side though. "Papa, is it hard to learn how to play an instrument?"
Subject changes happened abruptly with Alluka.
Re: Talk to Alluka
//I suppose that depends on what you'd like to learn,// he offered. //Have you got any particular instrument in mind?//
Re: Talk to Alluka
Re: Talk to Alluka
//I think you could definitely learn anything you like,// he noted. //We could listen to some music together, if you want to. See if there's anything that you like the sound of, and go from there?//
Re: Talk to Alluka
Re: Talk to Alluka
Or cuffing Hannibal across the back of the head repeatedly.
//What kind of music do you like best, luv?//
