Syndulla's Scrap, Friday
So Hera was managing a junkyard now. Which basically meant she was making money to berth her ship and had the run of whatever this place considered junk.
Some of which was just scrap metal, sure, but some of which was...decidedly odd.
Like a piece that looked like half a kloo horn welded to an arc emitter sitting on a null-grav trampoline.
...maybe she shouldn't ask.

Mod your junkyard!
Talk to Hera!
Re: Talk to Hera!
And sometimes, you just had to crawl into the junkyard to look at the stuff. So, a little green triangle? Was totally skittering around on four legs, picking up pieces of junk, inspecting them, and then tossing them to the side while she looked for something to better suit her purposes.

Re: Talk to Hera!
She froze and blinked up at the voice, and then kind of sank down, ducking behind a pile of... well... scrap.
It was... mostly effective?
Re: Talk to Hera!
Instead, Hera walked up to whoever was trying to hide. "I don't mind you being in here, but you should probably let me know."
Re: Talk to Hera!
And up. And up.
She was clutching to a toaster oven and looking a little bit like a deer in the headlights.
"... Who're you?"
Re: Talk to Hera!
Re: Talk to Hera!
... Not being readily familiar with hand-shaking and still not entirely used to people being nice to her, she eyed the offered hand, and then clutched to her find even more tightly.
"Peridot," she replied, a touch dubiously. "I'm Peridot."
Re: Talk to Hera!
Re: Talk to Hera!
Stupid Earth technology couldn't make up its mind about what it wanted to be. Peridot suspected that there had been rapid development fairly recently in Humanity's history, and everything along the way had been kind of...
Well, primitive. A bit like bashing two rocks together to make sparks.
Re: Talk to Hera!
"Well, what sort of components? Honestly, I'm not sure what we have, but I can help you look. Does it need a motivator or..." What would a droid duck be supposed to do? "...something?"
Re: Talk to Hera!
She frowned.
"So now it processes bread into eggs. Or... egg-shaped bread. I drew inspiration from the humans' bread-heating devices, as I noticed that bread becomes more structurally sound when further heated, but dividing the energy that the duck can currently process between multiple tasks is... taxing."
Only Peridot would invent a solar-powered duck toaster.
Re: Talk to Hera!
"Oh! So...hm." Hera checked out the solar panels. "It's taking in enough energy, but losing too much in conversion? What sort of wiring are you using?"
Re: Talk to Hera!
Earth, man. Earth.
Re: Talk to Hera!
Re: Talk to Hera!
"Quack," said the duck. Just like that. It said quack, instead of actually quacking.
Peridot's duck still needed some work.
"It should," she agreed. "That would be... I would appreciate your assistance. I'm still getting used to this planet and what it has to offer."
At least so far as small fare went. She did play a large role in building the drill that saved Earth, after all.
Re: Talk to Hera!
Seriously, who even wrote everything in High Galactic? If it wasn't in a ship or droid name, Hera hadn't seen the letter in forever.
Re: Talk to Hera!
She gave her head a little shake.
"I'm not from this galaxy," she admitted, "but you can see it from here, on a clear night."
Re: Talk to Hera!
She thought of the other part of that as she headed back for an area she'd seen some junk that looked familiar. "I don't think you can see our galaxy from here, but then I haven't asked. I know you can't fly there from here."
Re: Talk to Hera!
She waved the hand that wasn't holding her duck toward her head.
"But she has more..."
And then she waved the same hand toward the top of her head.

Unless it was to stash her things, whenever she actually got a new possession.
