Singing Weekends weren't the worst. But they sure weren't the best. "Lady Gaga can kiss my--" Kenzi made 'watching you' gestures to the zombies. "Play that earworm again, and it's a force-fed diet of Celine Dion for you."

Are trying hard not to look in Kenzi's direction.

Those mudslides are really, really good.

Whelp. Sparkle had confessed his stupid life choices to Atton and Minako, and had gotten snot all over Hannibal. Now he was kind of wrung dry, and starting to sober up again. Which meant that he needed to go and get drunk somewhere else, before someone pointed out how many beers he'd had today.

Which was why he was kind of shuffling up to the bar and then lurching forward to rest his forehead on the top of it until he was noticed by somebody.

He wasn't at the top of his game, or he might have at least noticed that today was Kenzi's day, and said hi.

"Oh, bunny. What has life done to you now?" Kenzi tsk'd, and slid a glass over to him, then reached over to pet his hair. "Have a mudslide and tell Kenzi. Or, you know, not. Whichever works."

Sparkle blinked. And then perked up a little.

"OhmygodKenzi."

Yes. Yes he was happy to hear her voice. And to be patted on the head. And to be handed more booze.

"Long story. Want me to paraphrase or do you have a while?"

"I have nothing but time, I am made out of time, bro." Kenzi grabbed her own soda and took a long slurp. "Didja confess your illicit love for somebody over the weekend? Did somebody confess their illicit love for you? Did you confess your love for each other in terrible, terrible showtunes?"

"... No, but now I'm pissed off I missed the island doing the terrible showtunes thing, too," Sparkle muttered. "Dammit, I would've so taken that over how I spent my weekend."

"Oh jeez, what happened?" Kenzi asked, with more serious concern now. Getting drunk after one of Those Fandom Weekends was a tried-and-true method of dealing with the embarrassment, but this sounded more complex. "Where were you, anyway? I went looking for you at one point to see if you wanted to join in on a chorus from Jekyll!."

Sparkle just sat there and buried his face in his hands at that.

"Toronto."

That came out muffled, but hey, it was an answer, at least?

"Oh, boo, what'd you do?" Kenzi asked, wincing hard.

"It was a family thing," Sparkle said, as if that was probably enough to indicate just how stupid this whole conversation was about to become.

Well. Stupid by Sparkle standards.

"Nooooooooooooooooo." Kenzi took a breath. "---ooooooooooooooooo. You didn't. Sparkle. Why? What. How? And back to what?"

Sparkle was making a reach for his mudslide. He was going to need a lot of these to get him through the night.

"I was talking to Eliot," he muttered. "You know Eliot? And he said that his partner could probably find... you know. Like. My sister. And he did. Like. It took him maybe a day because Hardison is some kind of fucking wizard, and so Parker and I went back to... you know... talk to her..."

He would continue, but he had to drink some of this mudslide, first.

"He is one of my many, many bosses." As opposed to some of her many, many ex-bosses. Kenzi shifted from foot to foot, biting her lip in sympathy at Sparkle's expression. "That sounds really cool of them, but..."

Yeah, she could substitute her mom and stepdad in for Sparkle's sister, and take a wild guess about how well it hadn't gone.

"I mean, I should've seen it coming," Sparkle muttered, between sips of his drink. "Turns out she's got kids, she hasn't seen me in ages, I'm wanted for basically half the shit in the book, you know? So she's afraid I'll lash out or put her kids in danger, and... I want to say I wouldn't, but what I say and what I do aren't good friends on the best of days."

Kenzi poured him another mudslide, so he could pick it up as soon as the other one was finished. "I'm sorry, dude." She grimaced. "I mean, I get why she wouldn't want the police, but still. You're her little brother." But blood never meant as much as people thought it would. Just ask her mom.

"No," Sparkle muttered. "Her little brother answered to 'Sparky' and liked trying on her shoes. I'm the guy who burned down a house out of spite."

And he'd probably punch anyone who called him Sparky.

"Spite, and you know. Severe emotional upset," Kenzi protested. "It's not like you're an out-of-control pyro or something! One time. ONE. TIME." His sister wasn't even there to argue with, and Kenzi felt like she had to make a case for Sparkle. "And let's face it, you still like trying on shoes. It's her loss if she doesn't know that, dude."

Well.

It was kinda two times, now. Sparkle considered mentioning that, and then sighed and finished off his first mudslide before moving to his second, instead.

"I guess," Sparkle sighed. "Maybe I should've worn my make-up after all."

Make-up really wasn't the problem.

"Would it have given you more confidence? Otherwise, not sure it would've helped." Kenzi reached over the bar to give him a half-hug. "I'm sorry, ya know. I wish it went different." She paused, and considered. "Did you at least get her Twitter handle? You can always follow that, or something."

"What, and stalk my sister on social media?" Sparkle snorted a little into his drink. "I don't know if she Twitters. She took Parker's card, and then kinda kicked us out."

Kinda. A little.

"That is a perfectly legit way to keep tabs on people who don't wanna talk to you," Kenzi said guilelessly. "I use it for my exes and some of my cousins, to make sure they're still in jail." Also Galina, because she needed warning if her mom was ever going to show up within two states of her. "Jeeeeez." She grimaced, and then offered, "Want the good vodka, or the bad tequila?"

"How much frowning will you do at me if I say both?"

Because he was having a 'both' night.

"None. We've all had that week." Even if was only Monday. "Shots? Just to preserve your stomach?"

"Shots," Sparkle agreed, nodding a little. "Maybe if I break them up with like bar peanuts and Coke I won't have to be carried out by Tino before the night is through."

For whatever. Hiding. Sliding. Lounging.

The channels are surfing on their own. Or maybe the sat dish is out.

*falls over* Yay, got this up! Home and around soon.

If I hear that one Lady Gaga song again, someone's gonna get hurt.
