Sunday late afternoon/evening, Moobyland
Dinner was apparently going to be American today. Kids' preference. And after a tour of the island, they'd also asked for it to be at Fast Eddies. Jaime had vetoed it immediately, insisting on something more substantial than nachos and soda for dinner. Del had agreed and apparently not just because Jaime had said it. Alex had rolled his eyes and stubbed his toe into the ground, but didn't push. He did when Momoko requested Cafe Fina, though. Apparently they ate at family restaurants like that in Tokyo City all the time.
"So, what? Mooby Land?" Momoko had suggested as a joke.
...
"I am totally getting an extra shake for this," she muttered a few minutes later to Jaime as they carried the trays of Mooby Meals to the table where the kids were waiting.

She gave a small smile at the conversation this Momo was having with Chichiue. It was actually a little familiar: Momo didn't always eat properly and was often scolded. Seeing it happen now made her feel a little more comfortable. She glanced over to see what Alex's reaction was.

He leaned over toward her, keeping his voice soft. "What do you want to eat?" he asked.

A nudge from Alex got a mumbled, "shake?" out of her, too.

(And she didn't like Chichiue treating this other Momo so special.)

"Anything else?"

"Hmm?"

Of course that meant that Momoko had to sit next to... "I guess that means we get to be seat buddies. Right, Alex?" She smiled at him gently.

She sat down and started handing out the drinks, ignoring how Del was smiling as she leaned against Jaime and coloured. "Did you want nuggets too? You look like a BigMoo guy to me."

(He had been planning on getting a BigMoo. Now he had to reconsider.)

Ugh. How to fix this?
"I think you should get the ClukBurger, though. It's healthier and you're still a growing boy."

"I'll have a number one combo," he told Jaime. You know. The BigMoo.

She tried a different subject: "So you and Jaime hang out a lot? That must be fun. Is he better at Japanese in your world than he is here?"

When Rain had called Leda, Leda had yelped, and the next thing the girl knew, her younger mother was leaping out of a portal and glomping her.
And after finding out that in the past year her daughter had gone through her first heartbreak she'd insisted on taking her for junkfood.
"I never told you that?" Leda signed.
"No! Hi Aunt Momoko!" Rain waved, spotting her. "Did you know about this?"

"Are you okay?" Rain asked. Aunt Momo was hardly ever subdued.

Rain did the sign language version of opening your mouth to say something, and then realizing you had no idea what to say, so shutting it again.
Why was it so surprising? It wasn't like she didn't know her mother had had a love life before Rain's dad had come along. She'd met Sila's mother after all.
"I don't know." she admitted finally. "I guess it just never occurred to me, so...surprise."
Leda ruffled her hair. "Our lives are weird, kid."
