Taako was a wee bit late to work today, not that he cared much. He had recently discovered Starbucks and had now taken to leaving the island several times a day to get a hold of those sweet, sweet frappes.

Could someone really be late when they set the hours? No. No, they could not.

"Taako," Magnus said, finding a counter to fall against dramatically. Not, like, Taako dramatic, but as much as he could manage. "It's too hot and I don't have my shorts from Refuge."

"You want to borrow one of my skirts?" One of the rattier ones Taako didn't want anyway.

Rude, Taako. At least give him your second worst one.

Magnus sighed, and glanced down at his own legs. "Maybe. It's like built in AC, right?"

For his penis, you see. The one that existed. Merle.

"I mean it's not like ice blasting at your junk but it's cooler than those pants you insist on wearing." Seriously, Magnus, get with the times.

"I'll take it." And they could wear skirts and start a fashion trend.

"Gimme a second." He sat his overly whipped cream laden frappe on the counter and headed into the back office where he had been squatting since arriving in town. It would take a few minutes to sift through the things he had accumulated since arriving on the island to pick a skirt that he didn't want anymore.

Don't you dare touch his Starbucks while he was gone. He'd know. Oh, he'd know.

Which of course meant Magnus had to take a dollop of whipped cream to eat. Because he was only human, Taako.

"They need one of these places on island. Or we need to learn to teleport."

We meaning you, Taako.

Taako came out from the back room, a sparkly maroon skirt that had been slightly too big for him in his hand. "...did you just stick your finger in my frappe, dude?"

There was a big divot in the whipped cream!

"No?" Swing and a miss on that deception roll.

"You did!" Takko said, throwing the skirt at Magnus' face. "I don't know where your dirty finger has been--how do I know you haven't been fingering Steven today?"

Steven the fish, yes.

"One, that's gross. And two, no. He is in a ball." Magnus put the skirt over his shoulder so he could show Steven to him. "Also, it was right there!"

"You stick your fingers in all drinks that are right in front of you?" he asked.

"Maybe I do."

It was actually pretty possible.

"How has nobody stabbed you for that before now?" Taako asked.

"I believe the answer to that is 'Because I'm badass,'" Magnus replied proudly. "I'll get you a new one tomorrow."

Which would be Father's Day and oddly make him think of Merle.

"You better." Even though he had been getting his own maybe two or three times a day. "Enjoy your skirt. You can keep it."

He didn't want a skirt Magnus' junk had rubbed against.

He needed his sugar fix!

"Thank you. It's very... sparkly." He would not pull it off, but he was desperate with this heat.

"You need more sparkles," Taako said. "It breaks up all the neutrals you wear now."

"Does it have any... magical properties?" Magnus asked, holding it up to his waist.

"I bought it at a Target." So that would be a no considering it wasn't a Fantasy Target.

Magnus sighed dramatically. "At least it goes with the Leapin' Loafers."

"Nothing goes with those loafers but it'll do," he said. "...I gotta ask, are you going to wear underwear with that?"

"Yes? Wait, should I not? Is it like a kilt?"

A super sparkly kilt.

Taako shrugged. "Pretty sure it's dealer's choice depending on preference and the weather."

"...when I'm teaching I will." Because that'd be awkward.

"Yeah pretty sure there are laws against not wearing underwear when teaching," Taako said. "You'd be put on a list."

"Yeah," Magnus agreed easily. "They did... okay on the carved ducks, at least."

He was being so kind about the horror show of ducks produced.

"Well not everybody can be proficient in woodworking."

"It's the effort that I'm grading them on." He was so earnest about it.

And they couldn't all go with motivational phrases, you know.

"This is my surprised face." It wasn't surprised in the least. Taako looked down at his defiled frappe with a grimace before taking a sip out of it. These things were expensive, he wasn't about to waste it.

"You should try teaching," Magnus suggested, only a little guilty over that face.

"...why?" That there sounded like work, Magnus.

"You know magic. Some kids there know magic." Look, to him, it was a perfect fit.

"I didn't even like teaching Agnes magic," Taako said with a wave of his hand. "Kids aren't my thing."

Also he'd probably get fired once he threatened a child over becoming better at him at magic and then tried to cover it up like he was rehearsing for a play.

Angus needed a little toughening up anyway. They were helping him! Like big brothers.

"But he did great with that mage hand in our side adventures with Jess the Beheader!" He was super proud of both you guys.

But if that kid wore a Jeff Angel shirt again, it was going to pop off.

"He got lucky," Taako insisted. "The little nerd just gets lucky a lot...not like that. 'Cause he's a nerd."

"He is a nerd," Magnus agreed. "And a bit of a dweeb."

They said with love. Mostly.

"Hence why teaching a classroom of Agnes' would not be appealing to me," Taako said. "At least I can take a nap when I get bored."

"...I have an office I can nap in." He was told he had an office. Had yet to find it.

"You know, I can't really picture you in an office," Taako said. He closed his eyes and actually tried to for a moment. "...nope. All I'm seeing is you in armor with a tie around your neck, breaking a desk in two."

Magnus wrinkled his nose. "I'd look like Brad Bradson."

Which was just traumatizing.

"Dude, scary," Taako said with a grimace. "I'd rather listen to Merle's attempts at a motivational speech than his."

Mostly because he could laugh at Merle making an idiot of himself.

"Oh thank Pan he's not here to hear you say that."

Because he would never shut up.
