Groovy Tunes, Saturday

Jono was in a pretty secent mood, all things considered. He was human shaped this weekend, which helped with that somewhat. The stereo was cooperating with him, which was always a win. And Joni had tagged along with him on his way to work, settled cozily into one of the deep pockets of his long coat.

So, of course, he was playing Joni Mitchell music on the stereo while it was willing to play along, and he was following along on his guitar while Joni stalked his boot lace.

It was a nice, laid-back Saturday complete with bonus cat. He'd take it.

[OOC: Open! Jono needed to have a good day to go with my good day. I hope you have a good day too!]

Eliot didn't generally have much reason to visit the music store, but now that he was going to be playing more regularly, he figured it'd be worth it to pick up some extra strings and such.

Plus, well. He wanted to be a good guitar teacher, so that meant trying to track down the one person on the island he was reasonably sure had probably taught guitar before.

"Jono," he greeted coming in, rather relieved to see him, in fact. This trip would have been super awkward if one of the students were working today. "How you doing?"

Eliot was glad he hadn't brought Val along. He was likely to end up with a very excited puppy when he eventually went home smelling like kitten.

"Lot better'n I was this time last week." When he was freaking out because his boyfriend had turned into an actual, antebellum slave, so . . . not hard! "Figured I'd stop in for some supplies."

Eliot shrugged. "Kathy asked me to start teachin' her guitar. I got some basic old music books and the like, but if you've got any beginner's guides for, I dunno, pop or rock or something. . . ." He shook his head. "Honestly, I got no clue what I'm doin'."

"I know she ain't super into country," Eliot said. "But we ain't talked about music much."

It was a little sad, really.

"Like a better plan than the one I already got," Eliot said. "Honestly, I'm makin' this up as I go along."

Which was kind of how he'd gotten into guitar playing in the first place.

"What did people even do before the internet?" Eliot wondered.

If Hardison ever heard him, he'd pass out and die of shock.

"Yeah, yeah. The internet can't sell me a spare set of strings."

I mean. It could.

Totally!

"Right. 'Swhat I meant. If I'm gonna be playing alla time, I'm gonna need spare parts."

"Ain't you already got someone on guitar?"

Eliot smirked, faintly. "You sure you got an actual band?"

"Musta missed that. Kathy had me doin' hair wraps."

"Like . . . friendship bracelets. Only in your hair."

Eliot knew how to do ALL the hair stuff. He rocked tiny braids and beads on a regular basis.

"Seemed festive. Plus, Kathy did her whole big hopeful eyed thing."

Kathy could get Eliot to do basically anything, yes.
