Parents' Weekend Meet & Greet, Friday afternoon, The Park
The sun was out, brightening the day, and in the a tend was set up, with a banner on it that read:
Welcome to Parents' Weekend 2017
Inside was a buffet table, offering a wide variety of food, a grill for those who wanted barbecue, and plenty of tables and chairs. And shadowy corners, for those who preferred that.
There were no warning signs up for glitter.

Registration
Re: Registration
So she stepped to the registration table to sign in with Morty in tow, made a face at the nametags before plucking hers out, and then handing Morty his. "If you want to go off and do your own thing," she told him, "I totally understand. I know it probably seems uncool to be hanging out with your mom all weekend."
Had she seen Jerry's name among the nametags? She was pretty sure she had, but she was trying to convince herself that she hadn't.

Re: Registration
"Hmmm. Probably not that one. Dlique? Am I Dlique? I thought I was Zeiat."
Re: Registration
Actually, it was kind of weird to be here after all this time, particularly without Rikku. But he had a Rookie on the island who owed him at the very least a punch to the face, and he kind of missed the place, so...
Re: Registration
Ugh, and this land was so dry. The grunting, plegmy noises coming from the Elder teacher were not at all impressed.
Re: Registration
Re: Registration
Garnet looked at the nametags.
Garnet shrugged and walked away again. She was here. Anybody who cared would find her, and anybody who didn't care would only find themselves confused by a nametag that had not one, but three names on it anyway.

Re: Registration
It was all just a little bit nerve-wracking.
Still, he was here to see his favorite being, human or Boov, in the entirety of existence, so he gave the sign in desk and any humans near it a broad smile as he stepped up to find a name tag.
"I Hopes Tip doesto appreciates this," he mumbled as he carefully affixed the "J.Lo" nametag to the front of his shirt, then turned his smile back on as soon as he looked back up and reentered the crowd. "This is very manies tall species!"
Re: Registration
"Oh look," she noted to Yulyn. "They have one for each of us. Even Ariel." It took some maneuvering, but she managed to get both hers and Ariel's affixed properly. Yulyn frowned at his own nametag before sighing and placing it on his bodysuit. "I don't see why we need these," he grumbled. "Liam knows who we are."
"Yes, but everyone else here does not," Lili pointed out. "That's who these benefit."

Which was fine with him.
He picked up his nametag and stuffed it in a pocket.
Food & Drink
Re: Food & Drink
The Presger Translator looked excited as she saw the buffet table.
"Now, where to start. Where should I start?"
It wasn't clear whether this question was asked to someone in particular or just to herself.
Re: Food & Drink
People were eating it with their hands. Bare hands.
Seivarden felt almost nauseated and took a few step backwards, about to flee the tent.
Re: Food & Drink
Leaning against a table, she... observed.
Re: Food & Drink
"Is this organic?" he asked with appreciation to no one in particular. "Mmmm!"
...but ultimately, he was going to go for the pizza.
Re: Food & Drink
...
Ah, fuck it. He was going to fill up a plate. Or two. He was here anyway.
Re: Food & Drink
"Ugh. Terrible. Disgusting. How can anyone eat something like that? Awful. How absolutely nauseating. And these people call this food?"

He wasn't anticipating any guests himself -- though he knew better than to assume that meant none of the Librarians would show up anyway. He felt reasonably certain that Eve would give him fair warning, if for no other reason than that the two of them were still walking a bit on egg shells around each other. But the others. . . .
Well. Either way, he was determined to enjoy himself, and make himself available should any of his handful of students' families wish to meet their teachers.
Re: Food & Drink
"Mommy, what is this?" Ariel grabbed at a piece of pizza, wide-eyed. "Can I has it?"
"It's called 'pizza', Ari," Lili explained. "And go for it." She just might do the same, honestly.

Mingle!
Re: Mingle!
She had taken her gloves off. Bare hands didn't bother her as much as they would to a real Radchaai, and she preferred not to attract the attention of the Presger Translator.
The presence of the Translator was a problem. It was even alarming. She had been told that this place was regularly invaded, and while the humans here should be protected by the treaty, she knew the non-humans wouldn't.
