The park had been transformed into the traditional Homecoming Carnival, open for everyone: students, teachers, townies and of course for visiting alumni.

 

Welcome to kiss, throw pies at or dunk your friends and enemies, and enjoy a nice sunny day.

"This is a booth where I'm allegedly supposed to be giving out kisses," Paris said. "I'm also giving out feminist literature and My Body, My Choice brochures."

Of course she was.

"I was talking to Peridot about these just a few minutes ago," Aloy said, glancing towards the pie booths. "Is it as stupid as it sounds?"

"So much stupider than it sounds," Paris said. "I mean, I'm pretty sure there's a skull on one of the tables."

Aloy pulled a face. "Ew," she decided. "So why are you up here?"

"Well, I'm part of the Student Council, so I wanted to be involved," Paris said. "Plus this way I get to educate people on why exploitation is wrong."

"You... could have just picked the pie booth," Aloy said slowly.

"I could've," Paris said, "but then the pamphlets could've gotten messy."

"So you leave the pamphlets spread out over everyone's kissing booths and then you sit in the pie booth. Or the water booth," Aloy said, obnoxiously practical. "Or don't sit anywhere at all. I still don't really get the point."

"You don't have to take one if you don't want it," Paris assured her. "Otherwise you might take it and then drop it and contribute to littering if you forgot you had it with you."
