The concessions were moddably stocked with all sorts of typical carnival fare, from kettle corn, sodas, and cotton candy, to old-timey taffy and sticky candied apples.

Hey, Warren was here, he might as well take in the food. Possibly so that he could stand by the dunk tanks slowly eating cotton candy in front of Zach, later.

He never claimed to be a great guy. He was half-supervillain, after all.

Sure, it had only been about a year since Jackson had last been here. But God, this place really loved its insufferable quaintness, didn't it?

He was rolling his eyes and taking photos on his phone and sending them back home. But, he also looked to be in a good mood. Occasionally, as he checked his messages, he chuckled. Weird.

Jack made a beeline for the funnel cakes, then decided he wanted a giant turkey leg too, and of course he needed some french fries to round out the meal.

He was out of hands to hold food in, but he wasn't complaining.

There was food. Admittedly, not the healthiest (and the same stuff Ada could get for free at home), but it was food.

She looked a little sharper, slightly gaunter, than when she'd left, a little more like the girl who'd first shown up at Fandom a few years ago. It had been a tight two years for the carnival while she'd been at Fandom, money-wise, since they'd had to stay away from Alabama and the neighboring states while things cooled off, and that had put a dent in their income. She wasn't going hungry, by any stretch of the imagination, but it had been a drastic switch back to living off peanut butter sandwiches after having the school cafeteria available constantly.

So she was piling her plate high, taking advantage of all the calories she could eat.

Dante managed to steal an hour at the end of work to come out here, his acoustic guitar slung over his shoulder, an easy smirk on his face.

"Love the smell of old people in the afternoon," he said, snagged a soda and a candied apple, and sank down in a seat somewhere.

Oh, man. Summer was totally going to get a corn dog and an elephant ear. Both at the same time. Which always made the eating of them slightly awkward, but, dammit, this was just tradition for carnivals and fairs.

Okay, taking off for a weekend without his wife was kind of lame but like. Bobby had been with Sookie long enough to tell the difference between an "it's fine" where it was genuinely fine and an "it's fine" where it really wasn't. And this had been the former. Plus it wasn't like he'd left her alone at home with the baby or anything. Nope! He had one of those backpack things for Charlotte, and the two year old was currently happily babbling in his ear as she took in the sights.

... Plus he'd promised they'd spend the winter holidays somewhere warm this year.

So yeah. Bobby was here and oh man, he'd missed these Fandom food spreads.

Hardison didn't care how close thirty was hovering in his vicinity these days; there was a carnival spread and he was going to avail himself of it like he was thirteen. He was pretty sure there were no random Eastern European mobsters planning on kidnapping anyone here, so he felt no shame in eating his weight in fried dough and orange soda and not worrying about the possibility of needing to pull off a con in the middle of the day.

Once she was done with the dunk tank and had finished causing her friend's similar pain, Kitty decided to dry out in the sun for a while with a drink.

After almost a week as an actual spider and another couple days back at the Panoptichron doing tests to make sure it had just been the island being strange and not some weird secondary mutation, Miguel blinked a bit as much at being around so many other people as at the sunlight, even through his glasses.

Which was not going to stop him from going for a turkey leg, corn, and fries, and probably going back for more later.

Eating flies was not his idea of fun.

Stiles was so down for carnival food. He was planning to get possibly quite more than he could carry before heading towards the tables.

There are tables available to sit down for a while. The glitter on the tablecloths might get into your food though.

This was sort of a weird homecoming carnival for Jaina in that she was here with the twins in a stroller, out in the wild without anyone else to help for the first time. She was trying to split between looking for people she knew and making sure the boys were entertained, and seriously, this weekend was going to be Different For Her.

Mike had been honestly unaware of the whole Homecoming thing until he'd found Jackson on his doorstep this morning. Guess when he'd been wishing he had some company at the house, he should've been more specific.

But Homecoming meant free food, and free food meant Mike was right here at a table with a full plate in front of him, people-watching. Today was an okay day.

It was a shellshocked-looking Edward who made it to the picnic that day: he had not intended to be here, wearing what amounted to a ragged sailor's uniform and bloody starving.

He'd been on a ship not an hour ago. How was he here?

... He'd work that out once he found himself done finding some food.

It just so happened that homecoming coincided with a time when Sia probably shouldn't be too visible back home, so she could take a few days to be here.

She also felt a little weird being back here and not really knowing anyone, not that she was showing it.

Seivarden had taken a seat at the table, poking suspiciously at her food with a fork. She had managed to find something that probably hadn't been touched by someone's hands.

She rubbed her forehead with a gloved hand, looking away. Her lack of cooking skills meant she hadn't eaten well, and she was quite hungry. Perhaps she could try not to think about where she had picked up the food?

Breq had picked up some food and drink, and found a table with a good view of people passing by. She had seen Seivarden, and, not wanting her to take her for Radchaai which would demand making up some story, she had removed her gloves and put them in her pocket.

There were plenty of people here she didn't recognize, which was expected, since she knew this event was an opportunity for old students to return to the island.

Without thinking about it, she was humming a song she had listened to during her shift at Groovy Tunes.

There was...something going on in town, and Amaya, who had been stuck repairing her formerly goat-infested house over the past few days, was more than a little intrigued. If anything, it might be a good chance to get her head out of work and into getting to know some of the new people about town. Festivals were always a good opportunity to make some good connections and have a bit of fun at the same time. She found a place to sit for a moment, taking it all in, wondering where best to start.
