Homecoming Carnival Post II | The Park | Friday, October 21

Of course the Carnival offers plenty of food too, and there are rides and games for everyone to enjoy.

There is also glitter, to no ones surprise.

Cade tried to grab a duck and ended up being chased around the pond.

"Karking wildlife!" he cursed. "Don't make me shoot you!"

That's not how the game's supposed to work, Cade.

Sparkle haaaaaated carnivals. He really, really did. The island had killed him at one and turned him into a creepy little murder carnie once, after all. But for the chance to meet some people he hadn't seen in a while, he'd suck it up anyway.

"If you manage to grab one and the prize sucks, you should just keep the duck," he called, leaning back against a tree and grinning. "Haven't you always wanted a duck?"

"I have never once wanted a duck," Cade told him. "What the kark would I do with a duck?"

"Terrorize people with it, probably," Sparkle suggested. "Or feed it to, like, one of the other hundred animals we're gonna steal someday. I mean, you have plenty of options, with a duck."

"Do camels eat ducks?" Cade wondered.

Cade. Cade. No.

"Not unless ducks are secretly plants," Sparkle replied, maybe a touch apologetically. "Which, hey, maybe there are duck plants out there. It's a weird multiverse."

Now he wanted one.

Atton would probably kill him.

Chia duck! Was that a thing?

"It is," Cade agreed. "How have you been?"

If it wasn't a thing, it should be. Sparkle was going to have to look for one, now.

"Lately, not, like, too bad," he replied, smirking a little. "Been working through some shit, but who isn't? I signed up for an evening class in costume design, though. Ever need new clothes, I'll hook you up."

You mean "black, leather, and sleeveless" wasn't a timeless look?

"We're all working through some shit," Cade agreed.

Or not working and using deathsticks, but details!

"Met a hot girl recently," he said. "And she talks to me."

"Heeeey," Sparkle drawled, grinning a little at that, "that's like, a double bonus, right there. How the hell did you manage to pull that one off?"

"Back home, I'm an extremely suave and attractive human," Cade said.

Keep telling yourself that, Cade.

"So what changes when you come here?"

Sparkle's grin was hopefully proof enough that he was teasing. Hopefully.

The fact that he'd totally ogled Cade in the past would with any luck make up the rest of the difference.

"I will hit you with that duck," Cade said. "I will."

He wouldn't.

"Gotta catch it first, don't you?"

Sparkle was a little shit and you loved it, Cade.

"I haven't missed you at all," Cade lied.

"Well, I missed you," Sparkle laughed. "Who else am I going to steal zoo animals with?"

"That is an excellent point," Cade said. "Should we do that this weekend? Maybe we can use the ducks for bait."

"I mean, I'm pretty sure you don't even have to bait zoo animals," Sparkle noted, "since they're in cages already. But it could be fun..."

He was never going to say no to grand theft koala.

"Sunday good for that?" Cade said. "I want to see if I can get laid at the dance."

Classy, Cade. So classy.

"I work," Sparkle mused, "but I don't see any reason I can't ditch early, either. It isn't like I answer to anybody, I mean. Sunday it is."

"Yeah, showing up the whole time is dumb." Do not emulate Cade's...well, any habit, kids.

"We can get something with lots of teeth so Atton will bitch about it," Cade said. "Like a crocogator."

Not a thing, Cade.

"Or an allodile?"

Sparkle, no teasing.

"No, I think the crocogator has more teeth," Cade declared.

"Well, I guess that is the important part," Sparkle laughed. "What do you need with that many teeth, anyway?"

"More teeth are always better," Cade said. "It's a rule or something."
