Homecoming Carnival Post II | The Park | Friday, October 21

Of course the Carnival offers plenty of food too, and there are rides and games for everyone to enjoy.

There is also glitter, to no ones surprise.

"Girlfriend?" she checked.

Really, he should have one, so better to find out now.

He smiled, and shook his head. "Nope, that position's still open."

Yes, he would've expected not to be single anymore five years after his last relationship but, hey. Then he wouldn't have had the chance to entertain anything but a friendly chat with her. So he won, anyway.

"You?" he asked, leaning his elbow against the table as he turned a little more towards her. "Got some bigshot somewhere wrapped around your finger?"

"I really should," Brooke said, because who was going to argue that point, "but nope. Still just me. Aren't you lucky?"

"I think that remains to be seen," Mike quipped with a little chuckle. "But I'd say it's looking better than if you'd said you're two weeks away from getting married to some Prince Charming."

"Oh, you're gonna be lucky," she assured him with a smirk. "I'm glad you're still single. This weekend would have sucked otherwise."

Mike smirked back at her.

Then he laughed. "Wait, now it's starting to sound like maybe you only came here for me," he teased.

"Not only,• she said, and admitted, "because I wasn't even sure if you were still on the island. But you played into the decision."

The smirk turned back into an outright grin.

"Well. It's nice to be an influence." More than nice. "Did you get a hotel room in town? And if you did, can I still lure you to a more authentically local accommodation?"

Smooth.

"Oh, I didn't even try with a hotel in case I could convince you to let me shack up with you," Brooke smiled, because she was born without shame.

It was a great quality, if you asked Mike. And you totally should.

This was shaping up to be the best day he'd had in a while. "Consider me convinced." Because he was easy. And had already brought it up himself, too. "Though for full disclosure's sake, I have someone staying in one of the guest rooms."

He had like half the ol' Fandom pack staying in his house for the weekend, he just didn't know it yet.

Brooke shrugged. "I'm not staying in the guest room, so it doesn't matter to me. ...Who's staying?"

Just in case it was someone she knew.

"Jackson Whittemore?" Mike replied with a shrug, even pointing him out for her. "Over there, looking mighty pleased with himself."

He hadn't spent a whole lot of time with Jackson, today or otherwise, but he'd kind of gotten the impression that Jackson was... maybe actually happy, now. It was weird.

Brooke looked over at Jackson, and decided she probably would have been all over that in high school.

So, she didn't know him.

"That poor guy is going to hear so many things he never wanted to hear this weekend."

And that was even without taking his heightened werewolf senses into account!

Mike laughed. "Oh, I like your thinking." Of course he did. But he shrugged, too. "It's okay, he's used to being grumpy."
