Hardison pointed at him. "I like the way you think, man," he said. "Or pinatas."

"Pinatas would be great too." This was going to turn into one mess of a party.

...They were holding it at Tony's house.

"Pin the allegation on the donkey," he added with a grin. "Dammit, one of 'em's gotta stick."

"Russian vodka shots." They were secretly teenagers.

And really bad at keeping that particular secret.

"Angry Twitter mad libs!"

It was what happened when nerds interacted freely. God help them if more showed up.

"End every sentence with 'sad!'"

But maybe they'd keep themselves amused and leave other people out of it?

"Bonus points for also fittin' in loser, failed, an' phony," Hardison added.

Or create mad science. Which would either be fun or full of murder.

"Fake, crooked. You know they say people accuse others of their own flaws."

On Fandom, probably both. How had the two of them not been responsible for a BDE yet?

"It's why I'm always accusin' people of bein' devilishly handsome, unfairly brilliant, an' havin' moves too smooth to stand against," Hardison said with a solemn nod.

"Is that so? No wonder I'm so in awe."

Somewhere, Steve and Eliot were both hit with the undeniable urge to drink. Copiously.

"I mean, I'm sure there are other reasons," Hardison said magnanimously. "I ain't about to limit you."

Steve would just give them sad puppy eyes. They were super effective.

"Be still my heart," he teased.

Dammit, Steve! Be less adorable!

Hardison winked at Tony. "Don't worry, boo, I'mma be gentle," he assured him, waggling his eyebrows.

It's possible that 'boo' was going to be Tony's special pet name from now to eternity.

He could not and would not!

Tony fluttered his eyelashes at that, hand yo his chest. "How kind of you."

"It's cause I'm a giver." That was absolutely accompanied by a friendly leer.

Hardison only had this level of 'game' when he was messing around.

It probably helped that the crippling fear of rejection didn't apply there.

"Well, thank god I'm a receiver," Tony replied, having no trouble keeping this up.

And you could laugh whenever you wanted to without fear of messing everything up.

Which Hardison was doing right now, his fist out for a bump, doubled over in laughter. He couldn't even properly respond, all he could do was laugh and offer props.

It in no way helped Tony's unfortunate reputation.

But that wasn't a concern of his around people he trusted as friends. Which was why he beamed proudly, returning that fistbump. "The secret lives of tech geniuses. It's far more sordid than the movies give us credit."

The only reason Hardison even knew Tony had an unfortunate reputation was because he'd Google-stalked him one slow day at the diner.

Look, it was what friends did. They also sent shipments of four thousand porno mags to the houses of some of the douchiest people who still thought they needed to talk shit about him.

"Age of the geek baby," Hardison wheezed, finally pulling himself upright. "We're the new hotness. Also, I'm pretty sure we agreed you're throwin' a Halloween party next Tuesday."

Beat.

"...Eliot'll make snacks."

Hardison, you should maybe ask your boyfriend about that first before volunteering him. As a thought.

One day Tony wouldn't be exasperated with friends who did things like that. (Like he literally didn't once offer to buy a newspaper who said mean things about his friends.) And one day Jan would meet Hardison and gleefully make suggestions of who to target next.

"If you don't come as a robot, I will be so upset," Tony said. "Or the Tin Man. You could do a themed costume with your partners."

He'd have to figure out it was Hardison first! Though, hey Jan, call a brother, a'ight?

"...Only if I can make Eliot dress up like a Munchkin," he said, positively delighted by the idea. "Ain't no way Parker's gonna dress up like Dorothy though. Wicked Witch of the West, maybe. Or a flyin' monkey so she could rappel offa things an' attack people."

"I would love to see if you could get Eliot into a munchkin costume," Tony said, trying very hard not to laugh.

"If I told him there was a munchkin cowboy, maybe," Hardison said with a fond grin.

"Expect a fist-bump if he walks into the party dressed like that." Because they were cruel, cruel men.
