Breq had been planning to try out different instruments during her shift, but the stereo was playing very loudly and it was impossible to turn it off. She very rarely disliked music, but this was unpleasantly loud and tracks were changed every 15 seconds to a completely different style.

She sat behind the desk, impassive, expecting that any customers who entered would flee the shop quickly.
