The Park, Friday Evening
Mitsutada had been dispatched in the normal way, so arriving in a place suddenly was nothing new to him.
Arriving in a place that wasn't Japan was, however, quite new to him. He felt a little silly, dressed up in his suit and his bits of armor as if he were off to battle... because alongside his sword he was also carrying a small bundle with his other clothes and a few items he'd gathered before heading out.
This wasn't just a special expedition, it was a complete mystery! Why he was on this mission was still unclear to him. Surely Nikkari or another wakizashi was better suited. Leaving the Citadel behind, especially for what sounded like quite a long time, was not something he liked at all.
Still, he was a sword, and a sword did his master's bidding. The Saniwa had chosen him, and he would do this mission to the best of his abilities. He sat down on a bench and pulled out the stick of hanami dongo he'd packed for himself. It would lift his spirits before he went about trying to 'blend in and learn about this new place', as he'd been instructed.
[ooc: Open post, and we can say any others speak with Mitsutada before his thread with Algren.]

He smiled and gave a polite sort of nod to the man with the sword. A new face around here.
He seemed to run into a lot of those, on these walks.

"Good evening," he said. "I hope I am not taking your usual spot to rest."
It was a nice bench. It was entirely possible it was someone's favorite spot.

A few old injuries weren't going to stop him from enjoying his stroll, no.
"Are you new to the island?"
no subject
Not a lie, but also nowhere near the whole truth.
"I thought a change of scenery might do me some good."
That part was definitely a lie.

And now he looked vaguely amused.
"It's funny," he noted. "I once went to Japan for my own change of scenery. Beautiful country. I was disappointed when the island pulled me back."

He really wasn't a great liar.
"I have been told there is much to discover here. I am looking forward to it."
He gestured to himself. "Shokudaikiri Mitsutada, at your service."
Hey, the Saniwa hadn't told him to use an alias.

Of course, being a sword might make that not so strange, after all.
"Nathan Algren," he replied, giving a polite bow. "Welcome to Fandom Island. I'm certain you'll find plenty here to keep you interested."

Well. He was intriguing. And there was still room in the house... Even for somebody with a name like 'Candlestick Cutter.'
Maybe especially for someone with a name like that. Nathan was the most normal person in that house, after all.
"There's a hotel, there are apartments for rent..." He nodded back over his shoulder. "I have a house, out by the water. There's room there, should you need, as well. There would be a few roommmates, but they're all decently behaved."

He could also farm, but that seemed an unlikely need here. "I am glad I ran into you, Mister Algren."

"Well, I did let Magnus stay in exchange for building furniture, at first," he mused. "Cooking and cleaning until you find employment will do just fine."

Nathan gestured toward the street.
"Here," he said, "I'll show you the way. I was headed back soon at any rate. And it's probably best I come with you, in case anybody is home."
Again, Magnus.
In case Magnus was home.
