Groovy Tunes, Tuesday
The radio was on one of its trips again this week, playing peppy 80s music that had her bopping around idly as she checked over and dusted the stock. Most of the lyrics were largely meaningless, as far as she could tell, but there was one weirdly ballady one that she asked the stereo to replay a couple of times while she worked out the lyrics.
"So . . . let me see if I've got this," she said out loud, though she wasn't entirely sure the stereo actually listened to anything other than the occasional voice command about pausing and replaying songs. "This is about a guy fighting in -- one of the several wars the US stuck itself into in Asia last century." Her late 20th century history knowledge was rather lacking, having skipped from the mid-fifties to the 21st century as a teenager. "Who comes home to find his family freaking out because they think he's dead." She frowned. "But is it a mistake, or is he supposed to be a ghost?"
The radio, of course, didn't have an answer for her, except to play another version of the song.
Raven was going to be thinking about this one all day.
