This was Eliot's very favorite weird weekend the island did. Even if it did tend to try to break his brain.

"Audre, stop setting traps in the freezer."

"You tell me there are polar bears and tentacle monsters living in there and you want me not to hunt them?"

"That's what I'm saying, yes." Eliot sipped his coffee, looking over his purchasing paperwork. "And put the knife away!"

"My real father likes when I carry knives!"

"Yeah, but you're making the kitchen staff nervous!"

Jacen had ditched his father pretty immediately after the radio broadcast, and while he was looking forward to showing his mom what he could do while flying, there was no way, after the drinking he'd done, that he was going to accomplish anything good without at least getting some caf into his system. And he didn't know his way around town very well yet, but they'd been here yesterday, and maybe he could try to weasel some caf out of the cook? He got along with the cook.

He did kind of grimace a little at the man behind the counter. Okay. He was back down to just credits after spending all of his local money last night, but he could work with that. Probably.

"Uh, hey."

"Hey," Eliot greeted with a small smile. He immediately picked up on the distinctive art style features this kid had picked up from his dad. "What can I get ya, kid?"

Audre gave the new kid a suspicious once over from where she was patrolling manning the ice cream bar.

"Nice hair."

Did she mean it? Was she teasing him? It was impossible to tell.

Miguel came here, and with him was a tiny adorable (he'd kick anyone who said otherwise even if she broke his brain a bit) kid, who immediately hopped up (fairly literally) onto one of the stools. "French fries! Please."

"Sure thing, hon," Eliot said, making a show of writing that order down on a pad even as he scanned the dining room and the street visible through the doors. "You got a grown up with you somewhere?" he checked. "I ain't gonna yell if you don't, but I gotta at least ask."

The narrative would tell Audre to play nice, but it wouldn't do any good.

Angela might have learned her father's love of food, but that didn't mean she didn't also inherit her dad's love of the occasional grease.

Out of love for the former, she'd go get someone else to make it for her.

"Hi there." She waved. "Do you make fish and chips?"

"It's not real fish and chips unless it comes wrapped in newsprint," Audre observed. "With those little wooden forks."

She loved chip forks. They were so small and unobtrusive and yet pointy.

Parker had popcorn. And no kids, at least, she was pretty sure none of these were hers.

That Audre kid was hilarious.

"Now, now, Aunt Parker," Ada chided, climbing up to sit next to her. And see if she could successfully steal some popcorn without Parker noticing. "Aunt Sophie says not to laugh at the misfortunes of others. Where they can see you."

"So like...how long we gonna make him suffer for some version of his hookin' up with Sterling," Hardison asked, shuddering at the very thought.

Purple had followed along the crowd of kids trailing The Kathy Mom (because why not?) And oh look!

"Yo, at this point, I'm thinkin' you might just wanna swap everythin' out for sporks," Hardison muttered in an undertone. "Parker wields a mean fork after all."

And even he wasn't sure whether he was hinting that Audre could do worse or that it might come down to a fight between Parker and Eliot's preteen daughter.

Audre, upon making eye contact with Hardison, pointed two fingers at her eyes and then pointed them at him.

A rather bedraggled Kathy came in around dinner time, leading a herd of tiny munchkins including Purple, if you wanted in various states of filthy into the diner. "Family dinner time?" she suggested in a loud voice, looking around for the biggest table the diner had. "Three generations all under one roof?"

After she took a few of the kids into the washroom and scrubbed duckpond out of various places.

Sigh. Children.
