When Breq arrived in the morning, she found a self-playing piano in need of tuning in the middle of the shop, playing cheerful, although rather monotonous music. Obviously she had learnt to expect the unexpected, but she had actually been looking forward to listening through the section of traditional music from South America, which was still unknown to her.

There would be time for that too, she supposed, and with the patience of someone who hadn't yet gotten used to a short life span, she sat down and watched the piano play its way through an seemingly endless roll of paper that couldn't possibly fit inside it.
