Sparkle's classes were over!

All of Sparkle's classes were over. No teaching at the high school, no freaking out over final assignments at the college. Just... vacation, with no real intention of going back to either. Maybe eventually the urge would arise, but for now, he was done. And sitting at work. Staring around the shop.

Not quite sure what to do with himself.

After a good twenty minutes of sitting around awkwardly, Sparkle started picking through the nail polish to see if there was a colour he wanted to try on. Whatever.

Someone had borrowed her father's phone. Leto never sent photos.

It would, in fact, make Sparkle's day more interesting to get a somewhat blurry photo of a sandworm sent to his phone! However did Hania know?

Sparkle squinted at the picture for a moment, puzzling at it more because it was a photo being sent from Leto's phone and less because it was a sandworm, and then texted back, Nice! Is that a big one?

He was still working on figuring out the intricacies of sandworm scale, and the blur didn't help with that, really.

Hania wasn't used to typing on a phone, or taking photos.

And Leto generally had better spelling. Sparkle squinted and tilted his head. He had his suspicions as to who this was, at least.

A few seconds later there was an incoming phonecall.

Well, this definitely promised to be more interesting than poking around for nail polish colours! Sparkle was smiling as he answered the phone.

"Hoping for a career in photography someday?"

Also, hello.

"I don't," Leto said cheerfully from the other end, "But Hania might."

[myownface]

Sparkle blinked, and then broke into a laugh.

"Got your phone back, huh? Hey, Leto."

[future_sandworm]

"Hello, Sparkle," Leto said. "And yes, it is my phone, after all."

Hania was saying something in the background that didn't sound entirely as an agreement.

[myownface]

"Your phone, her favourite toy," Sparkle chuckled, grinning. "Taking her out on an adventure today?"

[future_sandworm]

"We're in Sietch Tabr now. The photos are from the trip there."

"We miss you!" Hania called in the background.

"Yes, we do," Leto said with a laugh, then added quietly: "I do. How are you?"

"I'm good," Sparkle said, and then paused and said that again just because it was weird. "I'm good. School's out, I passed my college course because apparently I don't suck at costume design, I'm not teaching for the foreseeable future, and the worst thing that happened to me this semester was that I had to drink the nastiest cocktail the planet has ever seen in order to save the island from soul-eating meat monsters."

He sounded a little baffled by that, yeah.

"So, I'm good." And no longer bored. Bonus. "I miss you, too. And tell Hania I miss her? I've got to make time for a visit now that I don't have classes like every other day."

And here came Hannibal with a cooler bag.

He smiled and nodded at Sparkle. "How is the savior of the island doing this weekend?"

[myownface]

"Everything doesn't taste like pickle juice anymore," Sparkle said proudly. "That's cause for celebrating, dammit."

Well, it was.

[sharp_man]

Hannibal chuckled. "And here I brought you food specifically designed to get rid of other tastes. But I can always give it to someone else, I suppose."

He probably would not.

[myownface]

"You can give it away so long as you don't tell me what it is first," Sparkle decreed. "It'd be way harder if I knew what I was missing out on."

[sharp_man]

"In that case,", Hannibal said cheerfully, "you probably don't want to know that it's lamb burgers with kalamata olives and mint gremolata, lemon-lime-orange cooler, and double ginger sticky toffee pudding."

[myownface]

"See? See? I'm so glad I don't know," Sparkle replied, "because missing out on that would be tragic."

[sharp_man]

Hannibal chuckled. "It would, wouldn't it?" He began to unpack it. "And all of it with piquant and good tastes. And no alcohol or coffee in sight."

[myownface]

"Hey, hey, coffee was a lifeline this semester even before the monsters showed up," Sparkle replied, grinning faintly. "Got me through my classes, you know?"

Because he was the idiot who had decided to teach on Thursdays while attending college classes on Wednesdays.

[sharp_man]

"Congratulations," Hannibal said. "How did your class go?"

[myownface]

"Which one?"

Because honestly, it had been a busy semester.

[sharp_man]

"I have heard about your class here from the squirrels each day," Hannibal pointed out, "so - the one you were taking?"

[myownface]

"Oh, that one," Sparkle replied, smiling faintly. "Yeah, it went okay. I mean, it wasn't a waste of money, and now I have a better idea of how to design clothing for, you know, a Fandom crowd."

Taking into consideration things like how durable it would have to be and whether or not the locals came with weird picky clothing requests, like, say, gloves all the goddamn time.
