1000yearstoolate: (looking down at you)

The Park, Thursday afternoon

Yes, Seivarden knew it was Thursday. Why couldn't Thursdays be just as good a day to go play in the park as Fridays?

Because Issa's best friend wasn't there. The cat looked up at Seivarden, letting out a very displeased miaow. She had been running around for a while when they got to the park, excited, trying to find Stance, and when she realized he wasn't there, she had given Seivarden an accusatory look. It was all her fault. Depending on how you looked at it, that was sort of true.

Seivarden sighed and took a seat on a bench. She poured herself some tea, while waiting for Issa to come out from under the large bush.

[Open.]

One negative thing about doing the radio thing now and not having her new shop open yet meant that Amaya felt a little out-of-sorts that day, with nothing productive to do. Everything was all set up at Turtle & Canary, and she couldn't really do much with the forgery until after next week, when she got started in with the kids and the class. She didn't do well with idle, so she was strolling around a little today, maybe looking for things that needed Crumbling.

She hadn't found anything needing Crumbling in her whole time here yet, so she wasn't very optimistic.

But at least she saw a new familiar face in her stroll. "Hey, there, Captain," she said with a wave of her hand, "enjoying your day?"

"Oh," Amaya shrugged a little, "'bout as well as can be expected. Just about ready for this week to be finished and get started on the next session up at the school. I don't do well with idle, or waitin' around, for that matter."

Her eyes passed over toward the nearest bush, which she suspected might be the one hiding the feline. "Not a good day for the cat, then?" she asked. "What happened?"

"Not at the moment," Amaya sighed. "Nothing to Crumble," and that came with the requisite little pound of her fist into her palm whenever she said that word, "either. I'm sure next week, I'll be singing a different tune, but at the moment, it just makes one feel a bit....anxious. Nice day, though, at least we got that goin' for us."

But she did give the bush another glance, this one slightly frowning. "I thought cats and dogs didn't normally get along..."

"Yeah, I Crumble," said Amaya with a faint grin, doing the gesture again, because, really, at this point it was an uncontrollable tick. "That's what I call it when I use my Crumbler. She's my prize intention, though she's been mostly collecting a nice dose of rust around here. I used her for plowin' snow when we had that big snowfall not too long ago, but she was designed mostly for removing obstacles and takin' down trees. So I guess, hey, next time she's stuck up a tree, maybe we could give the Crumbler something to do."

Even if that was...an...extreme use of her abilities, but it was something. She supposed she could even pull it off without even taking down the tree if she did it just right...

"Depends on how quick your cat is," Amaya said after a moment of honest consideration and a shrug. "I guess maybe, sure, a ladder would be just as effective, but the Crumbler would definitely be more exciting. I think in that case, all we'd is shake up the tree a bit, see what falls out."

Cats always landed on their feet, too, right?

"And I don't particularly...like havin' to use her against living things, truth be told," she added. "I built her to help, not harm, but I guess if push came to shove, I might consider it. I imagine it'd be a nightmare trying to get all that gut and gore outta her gears, though..."

Oh, yes, it was definitely noisy. That's how you knew it worked!

"Maybe not, then," Amaya allowed. "And hobbies are a great thing. I know I just have a habit of turning all my hobbies into work, and right at this moment, all my work's on pause. I am takin' a class at the Community Center coming up, though, thought that looked kinda interestin'."

"The one with the entertainment," Amaya answered with a nod, then she shook her head slightly. "I'm not one for cooking much, especially not all that fancy stuff."

Amaya made a note...a note she would probably forget...to look up what pronouns were again. She figured it must be something important if it came up again, but, at the same time, how important could it have been if she'd forgotten what they were? Clearly, she didn't use them nearly enough in her daily life, by her reckoning.

"Strange how?" she wondered. "Most I've noticed so far is it's all just..." She waved a hand, "distraction, some of it educational, I guess. I'm mostly hoping to use it to understand this culture a little better, maybe get some ideas."

And Amaya had to laugh at that. "I'll be sure to cross-reference anything we see with you before I believe any of it, Captain," she vowed, "though, you know, I grew up around a few ships in my childhood, and those sailors," pirates, really, they were mostly just pirates, "told some of the wildest tales I've ever heard. How do I know you're not just as likely to pull one leg as you are the other?"

Amaya just really liked swanky titles. And felt names got a little too personal, besides.

"Of course on water," she said, "where else?"

And then she remembered. "Ah, right," she added, snapping her fingers and pointing to the sky, "they got ships up there now, too."
