Community Center Class: Gourmet Foods Around the World
"Welcome." Hannibal nodded at the people that showed up. They had been handwavily instructed to dress somewhat nicely today, and hopefully they had done so. "We will be indulging in some actual gourmet food today, as opposed to last week. In fact, a good bit of what we now think of as Western gourmet cooking is based in French recipes. We will be heading to Paris. For those of you who aren't familiar with it, France is a well-populated country on the continent of Europe; Paris is its capital city."
The portal dropped them off outside a restaurant; it was late afternoon. Hannibal ushered them all to the end of the colonnade. "These are the gardens of the Palais Royal, the royal palace. France hasn't been a monarchy for some time; it now houses some government offices and a library. But as you can see, it is still a lovely view." He smiled. "Today we will be dining at Le Grand Véfour." He read it to them, since the French pronunciation might be strange to some of them. "This restaurant has been here in one form or another for centuries, and is currently helmed by chef Guy Martin. The food is a mixture of traditional and modern French. The local language is French as well; many may also speak English, but if you have any questions, please let me know, as I am fluent."
And with that, he led them into the restaurant.

Re: Talk to Hannibal
Hello, Dr. Lecter!
Look at her, using proper punctuation and grammar and everything.
This is Summer Smith, and I have an exciting culinary challenge to propose to you, should you choose to accept it!!
Seriously, why did people keep talking to her? They should know she didn't know any better and couldn't help herself, even when she didn't even go there anymore.
Re: Talk to Hannibal
Oh? he texted back. Hello, Summer. And what is this culinary challenge?
Re: Talk to Hannibal
And if you could pick up excitement in a text, this one was practically radiating with it.
Capri Sun.
Or is that just one word? CapriSun? I don't know. Either way, Capri Sun. Do you know of it?
She honestly wouldn't be terribly surprised if he hadn't, really.
Re: Talk to Hannibal
I have heard of it, he confessed. Does your culinary challenge involve attempting to make it palatable?
Re: Talk to Hannibal
In a way, yes. Kanan's never had it. As his food teacher now, i feel this burden now lies upon your shoulders. It is after all a part of a certain food culture.
Namely hers. Middle-class American suburbanite adolescence. It might not be fancy, but it was still culture. And, in her defense, BDG had just said that it was a culture food class, nothing about gourmet. Which really should have been implied if it was Dr. Lecter, but still.
Maybe you could get with Magnus to come up with something. That dude loves that stuff.
And, unbeknownst to him, the whole reason this was even happening.
Re: Talk to Hannibal
I'll explain what it is to him and where to find it, but the rest is up to him.
He was all about informed decisions, but he was not supporting bad ones.
Re: Talk to Hannibal
Nevermind, then. might as well do it myself at THAT point.
And so what if she already had a ridiculous Plan B in mind? That was call thinking on her feet.
Anyway, I'll let you get back to whatever. He seems to really enjoy the class, though, so good job.
Re: Talk to Hannibal
I will let you handle it, then. I'm pleased he's enjoying the class; can we look forward to you joining us one week? How are your own classes going?
