Covent Garden Flowers, Saturday

The flower shop had turned into a jungle. Overnight the plants had grown into monstrous sizes, filling up the whole place, and forcing Seivarden to struggle to reach the counter. She contemplated cutting them down but decided not to, as she felt that should be Peter's decision, and also because they might very well have returned to normal by tomorrow.

Instead she made tea, which probably wasn't a surprise to anyone.

Kaidan successfully located the flower shop by the ingenious method of asking a passerby on the street where to buy some flowers. He'd expected flowers, not a jungle. There didn't appear to be a clear way through to any sort of counter, though bent stems and bruised leaves on the plants indicated someone had passed through.

He could probably cut his way through with the Omni Tool, but that somehow didn't seem appropriate. With the door open, he called, "Uh, hello? Peter, are you in there somewhere? Do you need help?"

Surprised, Seivarden dropped her teacup. It broke against the floor, and a numer of Radchaai curses followed, before she called back.

"Do you need flowers?"

[Sorry for late response, I'm in Central European timezone, so I probably went to bed a lot earlier than you.]

That wasn't Peter's voice, the accent was completely different. Kaidan paused and then answered, "Maybe? Uh. Is this Peter Octavian's shop, or am I at the wrong place? I was talking to him the other day and he said I should stop by to see your orchids, and, uh, fish?"

Wow. That sounded really stupid. Kaidan winced at just how stupid that sounded.

"There should be orchids," Seivarden called back, trying to push a few leaves aside to see who this was. She didn't recognise the voice.

"There might be a fish too, but I haven't seen it. You're welcome to look as much as you like, but it's usually not this... crowded, so if you want to buy something, I suggest coming back another day."

She managed to sound polite despite having broken a teacup.

He could hear the person thrashing, but the plants were so dense he couldn't see them. "Um. Not sure I was here to buy, just to check them out." He paused, then offered, "Would you like some help clearing a path into the store?"
