The Perk- Sunday afternoon

It wasn't that Sabine was bored. She had plenty to paint- sometimes even with permission- and she'd given herself space for projects and training... People complained about boredom, but she was never at a loss for anything to do. She was restless, which was different, and felt like she was just trying to fill up her time here. So she was trying to refocus a little.

She'd gotten a drink at the Perk (which she'd gotten because she liked the look of it and promptly decided it was gross and she wasn't drinking any more) and had a seat by the window with a sketchbook, essentially drawing explosions. She was also adding notes on what she thought she'd need to actually get that for real, even though she didn't have nearly enough supplies for any of it right now and wouldn't set anything like it off in a town like this anyway. Still, it was fun to think about.

Look, you had your hobbies, she had hers.

Her visit to the shooting range had left Seivarden in a good mood, and although she had had more than enough tea during the breaks, she stopped by the Perk on her way home.

"Tea, loose leaf, no milk. Try not to touch it."

She almost smiled, which made the barista look confused.

Seivarden picked up her cup and glanced around the room to see if she recognised anyone. Her gaze stopped for a moment at the colourful hair, but it wasn't like she hadn't seen similar styles before. Maybe not quite as bright, but still.

She took a sip, then headed for a table, walking past the colourful kid.

Being in a good mood, Seivarden just looked down at her, giving her an amused look.

"They don't wear gloves."

She did, of course. Not her best ones, as she had been to the shooting range, but she liked this pair.

Seeing someone else wearing gloves was nice of course, and plaint splatter could be excused. She was just a kid. Seivarden hadn't yet made to connection with the person she had been making fun of on radio.

"Propriety," she said, taking a sip form her tea. "Do you wear your because of germs?"

It was a strange reason, but better that than no gloves.

"Propriety." She wasn't going to bother explaining that to someone who probably wouldn't get it. "You paint?"

That rang a bell.

Now the penny dropped. Seivarden let out a laugh, mostly to herself. She drank from her cup again, then said:

"I'm sure it's appreciated."

"Don't people like your art?"

Seivarden knew she shouldn't mock the child to her face. She made a gesture with her hand.

"I'm sure they do. I just don't often see kids with paint-stained gloves here."

"Nothing," Seivarden said, both amused and feeling a little guilty. "I think I'm failing at being encouraging. I'll let you get on with your drawing."
