Turtle & Canary; Sunday [06/17].
When Apu asked Amaya if she had anything special planned for her dad on Father's Day, he wasn't surprised that she didn't even know what Father's Day was. He was, however, a little surprised by her reaction when he explained it to her, which was a bark of a laugh.
"Yeah, right," she said, laughing some more as she thought about it further, imagined herself getting a present or a card or whatever else to show her appreciation and thanks to him just for being a dad. Sure, she could see herself doing that as a kid, but now? "If I tried to foist any of that feel-good mushy stuff on him," she explained, "I'm pretty sure he's straight-up disown me. We Blackstones aren't exactly a real fe..." She cleared her throat. "We're not too keen on feel..." She grimaced, gave it the ol' third-time's-a-charm. "We're not into the whole feelings," there it was! She got it!, "thing."
Still...they had their own ways of expressing things, so maybe Amaya was working on a letter back home in between customers, on that most disparaged the holiday as something silly, but with the underlying acknowledgement that it still made her think of him and she hoped he was doing well, written more like a business correspondence than a daughter to the only parent she'd had.
