Caritas, Saturday Evening
June had not been a good month for business. For Caritas, sure, probably. But not for Mike Lane's Custom Designs. It felt like he'd been working his ass off - he definitely hadn't been doing much else, all month long - but there'd been some setbacks that meant that he wasn't getting as much money back as he'd hoped. And subsequently wasn't really able to give his only employee everything he deserved when it came to benefits and shit. And in truth, May hadn't been that much better, either.
It was starting to get to him, a little.
So it was a pretty quiet Mike behind the counter tonight. Going over his notes on his business's finances, whenever he had the time. Seeing if he was still doing okay when you looked at the big picture.
[ooc: Open, no OCD. Getting the ball slowly rolling on the canon catch-up, oh em gee!]

"SSlow night?" she asked, taking a seat.

"Huh?" he asked, intelligently, as he looked up. Still, at least he quirked a smile as his brain caught up with things? "Oh, hey, babe."

It was! That just wasn't the entirety of the truth.
He hesitated. "Okay, there's a little of that first one mixed in, but uh, like I said, it's nothing."

Because by God, he would probably come up with something like that to avoid talking about the business stuff.
