The Perk, Friday Afternoon

So, all the faucets at the estate had started pouring black water this morning, causing great consternation among her staff. It was only after Nommy had declared 'it's sweet! And fizzy!' and Karla had chastised him for drinking black water that she discovered it was actually Coca-Cola.

There was only one force in the multiverse that could replace the water in the pipes with Coke and Karla took that as a message from the island that she hadn't visited in too long. And so after sending a message to Warren, who was taking his turn in Ebon Rih, Karla left the children with their older siblings and headed off to Fandom for a visit.

She'd be pissed in any other circumstance to receive what amounted to a summons of her presence, but you couldn't really argue with a sentient island made of whimsy and magic, now could you? Which was why she was sending out a text message across every social media account she had. (including several that were defunct at this point, keep up, Karla). At the Perk. Old people reunion?

"I shall suggest those to him," Hannibal promised. "And possibly find a new project for him."

There were sure to be other suitably horrid people Jono would enjoy playing with.

"I could always send the children to come visit for a few days," Karla suggested sweetly. "I'm sure that would help cure his longing for danger."

[sharp_man]

Hannibal laughed. "You know we would both adore having them. How many were you thinking?"

[glacial_queen]

"Just the little two, I think," Karla said. "The older ones will appreciate some time without their little sibs underfoot. Or whatever you call it with wings."

"How well are they flying these days?" Hannibal asked, smiling.

[glacial_queen]

"Well, Kayla's doing well," Karla said, fondly. "Her endurance isn't what she'd like it to be, but most of the time, she manages to land okay before falling over. Nommy..."

Karla sighed and shook her head. "Warren told me I gave birth to a drunken bumblebee and, Mother Night help me, I can't say he's wrong," she said, chuckling.

[sharp_man]

"Oh, dear." Hannibal chuckled. "Although you should point out that the drunken bee clearly comes from his contribution."

[glacial_queen]

"Oh, I did," Karla assured him. "And then we ended up racing and..." She gave him a little smile. "It became a whole thing."

Where Karla had to concede that Warren flew better but her capitulation wasn't without a few benefits to her, so it all worked out.

[sharp_man]

Hannibal chuckled. "Well, far be it from me to interfere in the fun; Jono loves flying as well, when we can. But you know that we would adore the children visiting. And you could stay for dinner when you drop them off and pick them up."

No, he was never above bribery.

[glacial_queen]

"Ooooh, that's cheating," Karla said, waggling a finger at him. "Don't think for a moment I don't know bribery when I hear it."

She wasn't saying she wasn't susceptible. She just wanted him to know that she was aware of it.

"Of course not," Hannibal answered, grinning back. "I wouldn't dream of it."
